when the console power plugis plugged in within a few seconds I get blinking red lights, there is no 12volts on any points it should and the fan doesn't kick on.

I had had trouble with the qsb boards, I think they soldered some pins under the boards, so I desoldered and removed them, went hard wired now. I have tested each connection at its alternate points and the install is perfect.

Being the power supply was tripped I'm concerned it's bad or I may need to repair something else. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not the power supply. You've damaged something. Post VERY clear pics of any area that you solder to. If they are not clear and easy to see then there's no use in posting them. We have to be able to see and damage.

Edit: and no 12V is normal when it won't boot and a three light RRoD. You'll have standby voltages only.

watch your power supply light as you do this.this will likley tell ya its not psu alone, unplug cord from wall and console.for least 30-45 sec.then plug into wall.wall only here.and watch the light.should be orange at this point.if not and its red without ever even plugging it up to console, good chance its psu.if its orange, plug to console then try to power it and even watch it as u simply plug it in,if the psu light turns red whilst doing either, the issues more likley on the console itself.

another one who wants us to guess what the problem is , as krafter said you need to post pics up of every point you soldered to , you should know if the console worked before , [which you would put in the template if you filled it in ]and it does not now that tells you its something you have done
