So I have a falcon kernal 7371 CB 5770
I have followed http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54423
to the letter i originally soldered the yellow wire to the ROL and red wire to DB1F1 i thought i did a really good job soldering those but i repeatedly got e79 when trying to boot xell i thought maybe DB1F1 was bad so repeatedly trying to solder it better i eventually recked it i think
after repeatedly testing my joints and trying to boot xell
both with nandpro in cmd and jtag tool i gave up and moved on to alternate jtag points
i tried soldering red wire to bottom of board with no luck
followed the tutorial to the letter for updating smc with trey_open and Aud_clamp still e79

everytime i flash xell i unplug for 30 sec plug back in
i have tried powering xbox on before doing eject and doing eject first
i have tried booting on every setting the jtag chip has
everytime i get e79 with (powerbutton, eject, every resistor setting)
i flash back to stock and it boots fine
i have downloaded latest falcon from xbins
i have patched the smc from my nand dump
and the one from jtag tool 1.79 & 2.20
i copy and paste the dos commands so there is no typos
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55189&highlight=e79&page=37
I also followed that tutorial to the letter
and i checked my soldering with multi meter

so im stuck any idea's would be appreciated

Download files from my signature, flash the falcon.bin file (16mb) from the xbins folder. Next power the console via eject button and see if you get xell.

If it worked fine till this point then we can move onto the next stage.

you told me to do that in the alternate smc tutorial and i did, i still get e79
you sold me not to clutter up tutorial with my problems and to start a new thread
i thought this was me starting a new thread,
im very new to posting in forums so i apologize if im not in the right spot
i have tried everything to boot xell including downloading files from your signature & flashing falcon.bin like you said

The soldering looks good, so I'm going to rule that out. Are there any bad blocks in your original NAND dump? Also to confirm, you flashed the falcon.bin (16mb) from the xbins folder right?

Did you also turn the jtag switch to on and tried different resistor values on the JTAG QSB?

yes i did the 16mb falcon.bin from xbins folder

ya i tried the different resistor values as well im not entirely sure witch setting is witch
so i tried them all
do u install xell with switch set to off then switch it?
I tried:
Jtag switch set to off/install xell/switch to middle resistor setting/tried to boot/ e79
jtag switch set to off/install xell/other resistor setting/tried to boot/ e79
jtag switch set to middle/install xell/tried to boot/e79
and so on
after each fail i flashed back to stock read my nand compared it to my original and then tried again with dif setting and have done this with everything on the software side as well

from what i have read i dont think i have bad blocks i have never been told i had errors while reading i have compared in nand compare & reconstruct tool & jtag tool
degraded did not show bad blocks either
I did have to change microsoft 2004 - 2007 to 2004-2005
but that doesn't make a difference for xell right?

original software tutorial i followed
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55024

Bad blocks would affect xell if they were located within the first 50 blocks but you don't have any as you stated.

To boot xell, freeboot or XBR jtag switch always has to be set to ON. Leave it set to 'ON' and change the resistor settings and try booting with the switch at different position each time but I guess you tried that already.

Some say that using Zephyr SMC files (i.e. Zephyr xell) would work but I doubt if it makes any difference in this case. Only other thing I could think of is faulty resistors on the QSB, I only came across this once though!!!

Odd somethings not right never get a problem with the falcon board had E79 once for a day was melting my head turned out the Yellow Wire: ROL (Ring Of Light front panel) had its outer skin a small cut from closing the outer case so the wire was in contact with the metal case.

turns out i was not aware there is a jumper on the jtag qsb
i tried moving the jumper over and switching the resisitor setting to 330/470 and moved the switch to 330/470
e79
tried removing jumper setting switch to 0
e79
tried jtag tool 2.50
e79
I Read a couple places that people would get clean dumps in nand but would have bad blocks in xnandhealer
not really to sure how to use nandhealer
also jtag tool 2.50 i cant even figure out how to revert back to stock nand

ok,i think i can help you out,i have nand x but i never use chips lol suck soldering with them i use diodes and wires from nand x.

1.make sure your SMC alternate points solder corectly
specialy witch way you did it.

2.you should try this alternate point .

3.if you did you use this alternate point then make sure you solder the one that is on the drive good trust me i had erros like this only person who help is that same person Manwithoutname.

4.did you flash the falcon.bin and still get e79 use jtag tool 1.74

so im gunna cheat a little and do 2 posts so i can post more then 5 pictures

i tried jtag tool 1.74 for some reason it can't detect usb controller but jtag tool 2.20 and 2.50 and nandpro can
so i dumped my nand with 2.20 after i moved red wire to bottom of board

Red wire end is soldered to the wrong point. Look here again:

later tonight or tomorrow ill try the updating jtag tool 2.20 to work with alternate jtag points after i try the trouble shooting from updated smc tutorial (update smc from falcon.bin in jtagtool folder)

i followed the updated smc tutorial again with nandpro because i like to be able to see that it is injecting my KV and config into xbr

does jtag tool do this automatically?

im really hoping someone will point out something stupid im not doing
ill keep trying but i have pritty much given up hope of
seeing xell boot on this falcon

before i post the picture of my soldering
witch im pritty sure its on the right post now

i flashed xbr on the wrong solder point then i just moved the solder points assuming it would if it was still xbr with alternate smc flashed the nand

no dice

so i tried flashing my original nand back

i thought maybe it would be different or something?

so flashed back to stock RROD

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i thought maybe it was power block issue cause lights come on right away
different power did not work and i have the video cables plugged in

i guess im gunna have to re thermal paste it hopefully not have to reflow it

would moving solder points affect nand? dumps?
maybe i just bumped gpu heatsink to hard?

What was the secondary code of the RROD and did you disconnect PSU from console for 10-30 seconds before powering console back on after writing original NAND?

E09 (No Audio/Video) / 0021
"This error is caused by a bridged solder joint under GPU or Southbridge. It can also be power related(the Southbridge isnt getting enough power). Can also be a component that is missing or damaged so look for missing and bridged parts(caps etc) near the Southbridge"

it does not appear my soldering is touching anything

-removed xclamp on gpu waay to much thermal paste

cleaned and applied new AS and xclamp mod

still rrod

i have a DIY reflow table set up so its not to much trouble but i dont want to reflow if i dont have to
earlier trying to get this xbox to work i once had no power or life at all and i managed to restore nand and keep trying so im kinda unaware of the error possibilities and error undo possibilities

so i thought maybe having xell flashed at wrong jtag points maybe that did something to screw up my nand writing so i soldered it back to the wrong point flashed my nand
no dice
i noticed some flakes of solder between some of the paths on the mobo so i blew them off with air compressor
now im getting 0031
unplugged dvd power cable
back to 0021
