Falcon not booting Xell....No video signal

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read my problem.

I have recently tried to RGH my Falcon Xbox 360 with coolrunner and my nand-x. I used this: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75945 tutorial after following uber's tutorial on how to install the coolrunner. Everything worked great including reading and writing the nands, zero bad blocks were found.

However when I get to the portion of the tutorial where I have to boot into Xell using the eject button on the console I get no signal on my TV and a constant red light on the coolrunner. I don't really think that my soldering is too horrible because I managed to read and write the nands successfully but if you think this might be the case I can take pictures of my board to see what you guys think.

This console was on the latest dashboard update before I tried to do this. Is this my issue?

Thanks

You sure you programmed the coolrunner correctly?

Their should be a blinking green LED on the CoolRunner, the most common reasons for it not blinking are bad wiring or you didn't program the CoolRunner correctly.

Also, can you tell us what your CB is? (you can check by opening your NAND in 360 Flash Tool and looking where it says 2BL(CB).

lol, I had this problem on my Falcon earlier today and made an identical thread about it. Mined ended up being a stupid mistake. Soldering the orange standby_clk signal to the wrong pad on the 360, sorted that in and worked perfectly after that.

However mine had a flashing green light, not solid red. First thing I would do it check, double check and tripple check your wiring. I went over all my points several times, checked with a multi-meter, etc, positive my soldering was fine (which it was), only to realise I had soldered 1 wire in-correctly. :p

Im sorry I dont exactly what you mean. I can find this information with JTAG Tool?

Also I took some pictures for you guys so you can take a look at my work. I am thinking it is the green wire on the bottom of the board that is the problem. It was definitely the hardest point to solder.

I am fairly certain the coolrunner is programmed and updated properly. It programmed through JTAG Tool without a hitch and it was updated with the proper falcon file before it was installed as suggested by uber.

Thanks H3rman, I actually came across your post today while searching the forums for a solution but I figured it wasnt quite the same as mine. I double checked all the wires and I believe they are all going to the right locations.

Try removing the extra capacitor. It's only for troublesome Jaspers, and it looks like you have a Falcon.

And you're right, the green wire could be the prob. Clean it up and use a little less solder.

Ok so I think I have fixed my problem!! The green wire was the culprit as suspected. There was a little too much solder forming a bride between another point. I used a desoldering bulb to suck up the excess solder.

After soldering the wire again I got the xbox to boot into Xell and have managed to get my keys. Lets hope I can move on from here without trouble.

same boat for me
I have a falcon w coolrunner and nandx I used the qsb, I made a lpt jtag to flash the coolruuner with the falcon program worked after a day of fussing, all nands compared with 0 diff. Before I started this process I put all back to stock firm including dash (13604) I wrote ecc and when I powerup I see the chip glitching but just does that forever no xcell I have been battling this all week. today I will go to my buddies electronic shop put the sucker under a magnifing glass and redo the coolrunner connection. any help?

also a couple quick question to clear up some confusion, to see xcell I can use the hdmi out correct? also for xcell is the dvd rom needed? and I push the main power I don't have to power up with eject correct?

You can see Xell with any cable and if you have just flash Xell you do a power cycle and you can use the power button or eject but once you have flashed freeboot you will then use eject to get to Xell.

Thanks for clearing that up! After going to my friends and re soldering I still have the exact same no xcell :(
I re flashed coolrunner and did a verify and it came back succesfull but still no luck you see the glitch light but no xcell.

here is a few pics of the solder they are on good just was so hard to focus so close.

If I remove the grpound on coolrunner and flash back all is well boots to my stock dash. any help!

Sorry to say this but clean the flux off the green wire on the back and re-post a new pic there is to much glare to see if this is a proper connection.

Here cleaned it up with a qtip and finally got the cam to focus better

I think the first time I was good as well because I had the glitch light on the board, the second time I soldered this point the chip would not glitch. So I soldered this one again and it started glitching again but still no xcell.

I went the long way on this one I bought the tx nandx with qsb kit only to find out my falcon was not able to be jtagged do to the updated dashlevel. So then more reading i found I could still glitch, ok I bought a v3 nandx no problem I will buy a tx Coolrunner with programming cable and just program it NOT! They shipped me a v2 even though the web site said shipping v3 so I ordered a USB NANDX update cable (not here yet arrives tomorrow) In the mean time I couldn't wait and built a jtag printer cable so I could program the coolrunner, I used impact loaded the falcon file and loaded and verified it twice. I reverted everything back to stock performed dashupdate then redumped nands and the whole process again still the same. I have never had not even one bad block in all my nand dumps kudos tx for the QSB's! Please come up with one for the backside of the CR install that one point is a bitch! Tomorrow I will update my nand to v3 when the cable comes in if it still fails I will buy another CR
before I toss in the towel on this one.

received my usb update cable for the nandx updated it to v3, programmed my coolrunner again but this time with the nandx it programmed succesfull. Tried again and no luck the same no xcell. Now there is nothing else i need to do to get xcell right just write the image_ecc file after i created it with nandpro right? you think my coolrunner could be bad? I don't think so cause it flashes the green (glitch) every few seconds..

Ok gurus I need some direction

That soldering is not very nice.

Looks like some serious bridging of solder there. There looks like a lot of resistor movement and point joining.

I would recommend sending the mobo to someone to tidy that up and get it working. Anymore re-working on that point, and i think you will lose the resistor all together and bridge some more points
