So, now that I have some free time (3 day weekend) I figure I will try to get this xbox up and running. I managed to get the original NAND written to the console using my JRP and the 5v trick mentioned earlier. The console at least now boots (still RROD though), but it is VERY, VERY finicky. It will only boot within about 5 seconds of plugging in the PSU, or it is just a brick. Once on, it goes instantly to RROD and there is about 5 seconds of functionality, in which I can check the secondary error code (0010 still) or open/close the DVD drive. After that the console will either power off, or just sit there with lights flashing or the DVD drive half open/closed and the buttons are unresponsive, so it is like a powered on brick. If I unplug the PSU, I have to wait a few minutes before I can plug it back in or it will still be a brick. I assume that this has something to do with the caps draining residual power or the SMC finally shutting off. Overall, this console still shows a tiny bit of life, but it looks pretty ill. Any ideas? I will try to write xell to the console using the 5v mod again. Hopefully the built-in SMC will get it working. Then I can build a NAND from scratch. I'll check back in later with some news.
