RGH Falcon's freezing at game launch

Hi all

I successfully fitted coolrunners to 2 Falcon's following FiB3Rs glitch guide. Both had 1 bad block when dumped but they were remapped successfully. Both glitch 1st or 2nd time, everytime and all seemed initially good.

I installed XEXMenu and nxe2god and commenced playing games with no problems. (on both)

The following day 10 minutes before my daughter had friends over to play Just Dance with her friends I flashed up one of the Xbox's, started Just Dance and the xbox restarted. After 5 minutes of the xbox continually crashing on game launch i thought i'd try the other xbox. The game initially started but crashed approx 3 minutes later. Cue the exact same thing happening on my second xbox.

After some reading I decided to check the routing of the wires on the underside of the board, I moved the blue and green wires as far from the points to avoid as i could, with green going over the top by the clamps and blue along the bottom. I did this on both boxes.

Fired one up and games starting launching again. Brilliant!! I played Gunstringer for about an hour with out a single problem. Swapped consoles and played for around 40 minutes with no problems.

Then this morning my daughter wanted to dance so I flashed up one of the Xbox's, launched Just Dance and POW it crashed! Tried the second and it played for around 5 minutes and crashed again.

Now as this seems to be consistant to 2 xboxs, modded within a day of each other, using the exact same method, I can assume its a common problem between the 2 of them. Question is....what could it be??

I have a few stupid questions... you weren't overly clear on this.

Is it the same game always crashing?
Do other games work but that one doesn't?

Define crash, does it reboot just freeze to black screen, or freeze to currently video playing Does the sound continue?

All seem like minor details but it might make a huge difference in diags.

Fair one, i'll try and make it a little clearer. They all crash :frown:. From either GOD's, back ups or originals.

As for the crash. It will just shut off and restart when launching games. If it happens when playing it will either freeze with the picture remaining on the screen with no sound, or just shut down and restart. This is the same on both boxes.

When you created the firmware did you set the dash launch to output crash logs?

dumpfile = USB:\crashlog.txt

If so then put a empty fat32 stick in one of the USB ports and make it crash, and then post the log.

Or... if your using a usb hard drive for backups check on that first.

I wish I had the answer to that. Would that be part of the launch.ini? It was created automatically by the multi builder using the dashlaunch 2.26 patches. I'm not at home at the moment so cant check.

I'm away for a few days but will check and get that done as soon as I get home. Any thoughts on what it may be? I've been racking my brain on this for hours.

The launch.ini is in flash and as I understand this is within my NAND. Can I copy this into a USB stick, edit it and copy it back? I'd like to think its that simple.

Yes you can download the latest version and then put it on a usb and run it from XEXMenu or FSD.

Once it loads just follow the onscreen commands.

I will try to check back when i can to see if you have replied.

Cheers man, it's really appreciated. I read previously that dashlaunch 2.29 may fix some crash issues, so maybe that'll cure it, either way I'll make sure my crash logs are saved.

Try disabling Contpatch too in your launch.ini or if you created yoru image with multibuilder 7 create the image with DL 2.27 and select custom ini settings to disable contpatch. Then simply upgrade to DL 2.29. Good luck.

I'll give that a try as well, is contpatch the content unlock patch? How/why would it cause problems. I'm happy to disable it if it will help stop the crash's, just like to know the ins and outs.

Ok, so i'm back from my break and back into my Xbox woes.

I have created a new hand image using xNandhealer without the dash launch patches. Flashed it using Rawflash after booting into Xell. Fired up the Xbox, updated Dashlaunch to 2.29 and used this launch.ini
[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex
Default =
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
dumpfile = Usb:\crashlog.txt
Got the little one to play just dance, launched from NXE and after about 5 minutes the Xbox crashed and rebooted. I whipped out the USB stick to grab the crashlog.....it then dawned on me that the stick wasn't plugged in when i booted so the log wasn't there. I powered down the xbox. Tried to power back up after checking the log (which wash't there) and now it won't boot. This happened before i went away and after leaving it an hour or so it booted again. So now I'm waiting for a bit to see if it will boot.

Any ideas whats going on?!?

Edit: Also looking in the back of the console the red light is on on the CR, but nothing seems to power up on pressing the power button

Edit +1: Still no boot, no fans, no nothing!

Ok, so nearly 2 hours have passed and the console still won't power up. It booted first time as soon as I got in (had been away a week) Literally flashed a new nand, updates Dashlaunch, one crash, it rebooted and after I shut it down it now won't boot?!? Someone must have a suggestion?

This thread can now be closed and changed to answered as the problem was the QSB on the STDBY_CLK point. Fixed it by removing the QSB and soldering the wires directly.

Thanks for all your help :D
