I Have installed the x3 and have ordered a new HD, i have my xbox on the floor thats quite near a radiator, about 20cm away. and the fan on my box says 63 degrees in heat. is this becaus i have it near a radiator? i looked at the heat coming out the back, it was cold, the whole box was cold. should i speed up my fan, or move my xbox somewhere else?

its better to not place a xbox or pc just next to a heat source.

Gangstarrr,
I am not sure what you mean when you say the temp reading on your fan is showing 63. But it my understanding the temp sensors were removed on the
1.6 boxes thus making the temp readings (in the X3 bios, Avalaunch, EVOX, etc etc..) completely inaccurate.

I keep my fan on 100% in the BIOS, Avalaunch, and XBMC. The temps have dropped considerably.

yep 1.6 xbox's can't read temp properly so ne temp reading u get on a 1.6 is pretty much useless.

so if you have a 1.6b how can you get a accurate temp reading without adding any sensors.

From what I have read, there aren't any temp sensors on the board or GPU. If this is the case then it is not possible without a3rd party sensor.

My very first xbox was a 1.6 and I got an older one just for the temp readings

I didn't buy a whole new box. I traded my 1.6 board (with lpc rebuild intact) and Executer 2.6 for a 1.0 PSU, motherboard, daughterboard, solderless Xadapter, and 2.3b.

LOL it is pretty funny though. I am neurotic when it comes to things like that.
OMG!! no temp sensors... get older board quick!
