Fault Write Protect Switch?

I have gone to update my X3 BIOS to the new release.
BUT when I try it tells me to remove the write prtection and flash again.
The switch in the chip itself if not on. I have removed the external switch in case it was causing the problem.
I have gone as far as removing the switch off the X3 chip and soldering a wire direct to the board to turn off the write protect. But still not working.

I have no idea why it keeps saying the write protect is on when I know its not!

Has anyone any ideas please, its driving me mad.
Thanks

Not to sound dumb but... on the chip... red is not protected and green is protected... you know that, right?

Ok, I'm pretty sure you do... I was just checking. :)

Other than that... I'm not to sure....

Where did you solder to the board?

Yep

There is no colour on my X3 chip.

The switch is to the left away from the connector as shown on the diagram, but I had tried it both ways just to be sure.

I remove the switch and was left with 3 solder point 2 next to each other and one on the top centre of them two.

I soldered the top middle solder point to the bottom left one as I found this was how the switch worked by connecting them two point, again just to be sure I also tried it with the other connector just to be sure.

This is really starting to get to me know, also my X-Box has decided to stop loading the hacking dashboard (EvoX) today. The MS one loads fine... I can FTP and all the files are there. Never had an issue with the install until today, have it 8 months now.

Current problem could be a wire knocked loose or pinched while you were fiddling inside the xbox. What happens when you try to boot enabled? Frag?
