Faulty Chip?

Xecuter 2.6CE on V1.0 XBOX.

Okay, I originally had a FRAG problem with my fresh install, but that has been resolved. Now when I try to boot up to flash the BIOS, it just loads up the MS Dash like there is no chip. I have the switch set to chip enable, flash protect off, and i tried both banks. The blue LED on the chip is on, so the chip seems to be working. I even tried hot swapping w/ an X3 chip to flash, but it just hangs during the flash attempt using multiple methods (disc, http). I am starting to think that I have a faulty chip. I know this is rare, but i'm out of ideas.. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help.

That's what I thought. I checked it with a multimeter. Everything is good. I've also resoldered the D0 point multiple times. Same problem.

Ok. I've just spoken with my supplier. They think that it's a faulty switch and they're sending me a new one. Let's see if that resolves the issue...

You can disconnect the switch which will default to first bank/flash protect off... and try flashing.

That'll tell you if your switch is poo.

Do you get all the lights on the X3? 2 blue 1 red?

The 2.6 won't work without a switch, and there is only one blue LED on a 2.6.

Did you check the D0 wire for breaks with a multimeter?

He's got an x3 that he's swapping to check to see if the install works...

and you cant swap a x3.0 for a 2.6 if you used the wire install
hope he used a pin header otherwise he gonna have to change a bit in there.

Even to hotswap a 2.6, you need a working switch attached. The switch is what activates the chip.

No, I mean he has a X3 that he is going to put in to see if the install works.

If you can get to the bios with an X3 then the install is good. I'm not saying a hot swap to load a new bios...

If you put in the X3 and remove the switch it should boot enabled.. to bank one by default.

If that works then that means the install is good and the switch may be bad... if it doesn't work then the install is prolly bad.

Am I wrong? I'm not a X2 master or anything but I figure if the X3 works... then the X2 should.

Of course you can - the same wires installation is used for x2.6 and x3.
