Ok so I have a coolrunner chip that won't flash the green light period. I was wondering what I could check on the chip that would cause this.

Its not the wiring cause I have tested 2 other coolrunners with the same wiring in place just swapped the chips out. Those both worked fine. Any suggestions on what could cause this? Thanks

I am assuming that you have programmed your CoolRunner with the relevant fileset?

If so, have you written an ECC image to your NAND (created with Python, 360 Multi Builder etc)?

Oops sorry I didn't mention that it was a slim.

Yes I wrote the proper files to the coolrunner. I have 4 other coolrunners sitting here and I tried 2 others with the same wiring and they work fine. ECC is fine I have no problem booting xell with the other chips just this one won't flash green period.

Green light does work when chip is erased though.

Slims are picky sometimes, all you can do really is try altering the position and/or shape of the CPU_RST wire or you could try the POST_OUT add-on board.

By the way, this is a Trinity board right?

Why cant you just leave the other coolrunners, must be a dead one, try flipping switch prg and nor switch and phat and slim

I will end up leaving another coolrunner in it after I finish troubleshooting this chip. It must just be a faulty chip. I have tried flipping the switch and programming it in NOR and PRG mode. Also have tried phat/slim as well.

Yes its a Trinity its actually sitting on xell as we speak. But with a different chip. I don't think the slim is being finnicky because with the same wiring in place the other chips boot in 30 seconds max. I had another faulty chip in this shipment as well so I am just gonna chalk it up to that. My mail man is pretty worthless and jams that crap in my mailbox hardcore. 2 outta 15 chips on that order are bad but oh well.

Check all the solder pads on the coolrunner. I had 1 that there was faulty soldering on all the pads for the prgm switch.
Ok good suggestions. I will break out my MM and look this bad boy over under my magnifier. Playing with the switch now it seems a bit off. Maybe the switch is bad.

ok so I checked it out with the MM and it does seem something is off with the switch or the soldering of the switch. I will post back with an update of what I find out after I try resoldering or replacing. Thanks for the heads up on that vrtclhykr

Try to replace it before you mess something up and cant get it replaced.

Don't think they'll replace ordered them back in Nov. The prg/nrm switch on the one that doesn't turn green seems a bit off. But seems ok with a MM testing the points below the switch. Not sure if there are other things I should be checking and havent pulled the switch off yet.
