Damnit... I got the ICS working, now what...?

I have ICS enabled on my LAN side, but every time I plug my xbox into the LAN NIC I lose internet... need I enable ICS on the WAN side of my laptop instead?

My setup is like this:

I'm using my neighbors I-net ;) to get access on my laptop through a wireless pcmcia (or whatever) card, I'd like to be able to access my xbox with a crossover cord, while I look up stuff on Xecuter... any ideas?

Right - here's the deal.

ICS works like this - you enable ICS on the device with resources you want to share.

eg you have Eth0 and Eth1.

Eth0 is a LAN/WAN/PPP connection to an internet service (from a modem or router for instance)

Eth1 is a LAN connection which has devices you want to share your internet connection with (PCs/Xboxes etc).

Therefore, you go into the properties of Eth0 and enable ICS. If you have more than two network devices then it will ask you which one you want to use. It will automatically use your second device if you only have two.

ICS sets the IP address / subnet of Eth1 to 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 which then becomes your default network for your PCs/Xboxes etc. You can change this afterwards, but for practical reasons, change you network to suit this. If you want to, you can set all devices connected to Eth1 to Auto configure IP (DHCP), as ICS will act as a DCHP / NAT server.

My setup is - wireless gateway, laptop with crossover to xbox. This is what I have done.

I have only had luck with Static IP addresses. So I use that.

With XP you can create a Bridged Network, so this will link the LAN connection
(crossover to XBOX) to the WAN (wireless to internet).

You should beable to right click on the Network connection and add to bridge.
You also may need to refresh once this is done.
