Firmware Flash Problem!!

I've got a situation and I was hoping someone could help….. Me and a buddy of mine figured out how to flash “his” Toshiba Samsung drive with the new iXtreme 1.2. We used "Xtreme Boot Maker" to create a bootable USB and then we went into DOS and typed "samread and his serial number". We selected the drive and then cycled the power and did the "samhack" command with his serial number. Everything worked great!!

The reason why im posting this is because I have a problem with "my" system. For some reason when I type "samread with my serial number" and I select the drive my computer freezes up. This is weird because everything I am doing is exactly the way we did my buddy's…….

The drive I have is not the original drive that came with my system….. I sent my original drive t o a guy online to flash it but he had some problems with it. He could not figure out how to flash my Hitachi drive so he gave me his Toshiba Samsung drive that was already flashed with a firmware that would allow me play backups. When I got it in the mail I hooked it up and it worked great. This was about six months ago and I want to upgrade my firmware with the new iXtreme 1.2. Im wondering if I need to put the serial number of the system that originally came with the drive he gave me???

You need to read Textbook's tutorial which is available here.

Go to the Samsung section --> Upgrading Your Firmware. You'll need to use either the 0800 disc or a VIA chipset.

The 0800 is explained in the upgrading section. Put a little effort in man, don't expect someone to hold your hand when there's already a tutorial with an UPGRADING section. Everything is explained there, if you're too lazy or unwilling to read it that's your problem.

I’m not expecting anyone to hold my hand, I was just hoping for some help. I have read the tutorial, but there are several sections that don’t make sense to me. It’s like learning another language, so bare with me... There is no reason to be a prick, not everyone has the knowledge that you have.

When I used the xtreme bootmaker 5.3 and tried to load the ixtreme 1.2 firmware it didn’t even see the firmware on my computer. When I used an older version of xtreme bootmaker it had no problem recognizing the firmware when I hit the "open firmware" button. This is where I got stuck initially, so I abandoned the written tutorial and followed the video tutorial that is underneath the picture of the Samsung drive.

Is there any reason why xtreme bootmaker 5.3 wouldn’t recognize the firmware??

maybe because you dont have the updated definition file.
