So i have a very thorough knowledge of computers and Microsoft products alike, however this is my first time cracking a phat case open. Upon stripping everything down i notice i have a Lite-on which i originally thought was a BenQ from the way the appearance of the disc drive tray itself. But found out from the face plate hole and the yellow wiring it was a Lite-on, well i don't have the hardware yet simply put because i am unsure if different drives require different hardware to JTAG or if they are ALL the same thing no matter the drive I'm still grey on that one. According to a recent tute i found i am only required to have
1 25 pin d-sub connector
1 330 ohm resistor
1 1n418 switching diode
1 Soldering iron
Solder
& a computer with LPT port.
If this is the case then i already have a 25 pin d-sub and a soldering gun, and i know for a fact i can very easily get my hands on the other two items. So if this is the case and i acquire these items am i safe to assume i will be well on my way to JTAG? I have looked over many many many JTAG tutes and from what i gather i seem to get a slightly different variation with all of them! That part right there confuses the heck out of me and i do not want to run the risk of screwing something up. I am really only looking to play modded games OFFLINE for example Black Ops 2 Zombies personally the game i play literally every single night. No clipping, god mode, max ammo, wall hacks the lot you get the idea. I am not concerned with online play at all as this console is not and will not ever go online nor have an ethernet cable plugged into it. I have thought about flashing but i cant run programs with that and as far as i understand is for online play and saving game backups so i really don't care to much about that.
So my question is really do i just need to acquire these materials and i am all set or is there far more to it like that of flashing what with the firmware and the drivers and teh probes and the special graphix cards and all that jaz? The variations and versions and reset hacks and r-jtags and jtags WHAT IS ALL THAT STUFF.
