First mod - Xbox 1.6B LPC Rebuild, what now?

Hello,

This is my first time modding and I found the directions confusing. I installed everything and connected everythign on the LPC rebuild, the directions said no wires were required afterwards. I booted up the xbox, with the switch to the modchip = ON and it goes to the MS dashboard and not to the slayers disc I put in.

The switch = OFF, it still goes to the MS dashboard.

Am I missing a step? I understand the LPC replaces all the wires in the one step. But in a prior step there was a green LAN LED, red HD LED, and a grey D0. I didnt do these because it seemed like the LPC went over the D0. Am I supposed to?

Another thing is I used a burned CD with slayers on it for the bios setup or what not...(not sure what to really do)..and the MS dash just says..cant read disc..make sure it is a DVD or Audio CD.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, you'll need that grey wire. If you read this thread you'll see the comments:

We also give you a better d0 point (grey wire) on this pcb - simply solder the rebuild pcb first and then solder the grey wire to the large d0 point point on the rebuild PCB.

I'm not 100% sure about the alt 5V connection, but I think you need that wire too. Well, at least you can use your DMM to check continuity across the lpc header and the alt 5V to double check that its connected.

Also read this after you've got it all soldered up correctly.

For a slow download, you can look at my attempt at a guide for post install.

You will need to solder the grey wire and the alternative 5v wire as your xbox is version 1.6 or 1.6b

You said you had slayers, when you install that, it would install both a dash and the original ms dash

You will have to flash the bios first: Flashbios (Bank 1) M8plus_16 (Bank 2)

This would then allow you to run unsigned code - e.g the slayers disc

well...I got everything to work..it even said FLASH BIOS 3.0.3...

I downloaded the bios manager version 2.3 and put the first two banks as flashbios 3.0.3 and the 3rd and 4th to m8plus16 and saved it as bios.bin and burned it per instructions on a DVD-R. Put the actual switch on BANK 2. It started to update...got through the yellow...then part of grean..then it failed...and froze...i read to turn it off if it freezes...so I did...when I booted it back up ...christmas lights!

What do I do now..is the chip toast?

no u just failed the flash, unfortunately the erases itself before flashing so now u have just a corrupt bios on there, u will either need to do a hotswap with another xbox fitted with x2 or buy a pogrammer and reprogram the chip, i think the programmers r really cheap so probably your best option

also id check all your connections again after u flash the chip cause it shouldn't fail a flash.
