Hello there..

I am new here at the forum but haven't posted anything for a year as well as I have no modding /flashing experience at all with the Xbox world..

I own an Phat Xbox 360 with a BENQ drive. I have already purchased it flashed. The last games I was playing - if my memory doesn't deceive me - were 2nd Wave games.. and since then the xbox is on the shelf collecting dust. Today I thought of going back to play with this thing. So I went to the shop where I purchased the xbox asking if he could update the firmware to the latest LT 3.0., but he just said you'd better buy a new one .. bla bla bla. Since I can't find someone to help me with this, I decided to learn this by myself and proceed with it, hopefully nothing goes wrong.

SOME INFO about the Xbox First:

Xbox Mobo Version : FALCON / April 2008
Drive: BENQ / White Wire
Recent Dashboard: 2.0.7371.0
OFW Dump : No
Drive Key: No
Current iXtreme Version : I guess it is 1.4 (2nd Wave)

Now to the questions:

1. Can I extract the key from the drive so I can update to the latest LT+ 3.0 or Am I stuck ?

2. I have read about something called "Floating Ground", what is this ?

3.Do I need to "Power Cycle" with the new JF or clicking "Reset" in the JF is enough ?

Thanks in advance. I hope you can bear with me :p

dont panic going to post you some links this way you can do it yourself , But before you get flamed all the info is here . But as you seem to be in the dark will help you out abit. give me 5 with links and tuts ok.

mr modchips auth reseller
http://mrmodchips.co.uk/catalog/adv...7f0137ca906fa1438c4fbd8ea4fd&keywords=usb+pro

usb pro or usb pro v2 . get one of these all drivers can be found

team xcuter step by step guides
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=136

you may want to get a unlock kit as well from mr modchips or any auth reseller info can be found on front page list of resellers .

Once you read the guides its not as hard as it looks but remember if you play on line before you update your dashboard flash your drive back to stock then update dash and reflash drive .
jungleflasher has a log write your dvd key down and keep it safe in case your pc goes up the creek or you do something wrong . If you do something wrong you can always sort it out . Good thing with benq you dont have to take it apart to get the drive key.

Just grab a X360USB or Via 6421 card depending on how cheap you want to be, download Jungleflasher from Jungleflasher.net, there's a tutorial included ;) BenQ drives are the easiest to flash IMO, just click a few buttons and you're done..never updated one from iX1.4 or whatever you may be running, but I can't imagine it being too much different, regardless, the tut in JF covers it. Grab that, give it a read, if you still have questions feel free to PM me or post again :) Also as far as I know floating ground is from the Xbox 1 days and hotswapping, never heard it applied to a 360 DVD flash, so you should be fine, I've done countless flashes without any special precautions and never cooked anything yet!

I already have the VIA 6421A... So I'd proceed with it.
Thanks for the support. Surely, I will post If I needed help.

I remembered something, Is it OK to power up the DVD Drive using Xbox Power ? Or Do I need a tool like USB Pro or Ck3 to do it ? and what are the risks ?

Thanks guys :)

get a ck3 pro . I have never used the xbox to power up the drive plus with a ck3 you can 0800 your drive to make backups , install via 5.20 drivers these are what I use but as you have a 6421 card once drivers are installed .goto control panel disable sata card . In system 32 delete viamraid driver and then enable sata card in control panel you should get a yellow ! restart pc . Ck3 uses com port 3 . Good peice of kit never let me down

Aparently it has been rumored that the xbox stores that it has been powered without the drive connected which can spark suspicion from microsoft however i dont think there is and proof of this, i would just buy a ck3 mini there only about £10

Rumored? Its a fact. It counts each time its powered without a drive connected via sata. Is this dangerous to live safety? That is the unknown part.

In the case of a spelling error, I blame Tapatalk.

@BL4K3Y
Yes it is a BenQ.. But I want to power up the Driver while flashing externally. I found CK3 Lite, but then realized it is discontinued now. So what replaces it ?
