Ok I have fixed 2 drives for people on here so far and they both packaged up the drive well, no damage and were returned promptly. But there is alway one that doesn't seem to care. I received a drive today packaged in a very thin padded envelope with no metal covers and in pieces inside. The envelope had all 4 legs of the drive punched through and it looked like it had been to hell and back twice. The plastic was busted up and it was a write off. I am not going to be responsible for poorly packaged items. If you take the cheap way out (to save a couple bucks) then you are on your own. Also for those people that wrote a value on the package, well you are shipping it to Canada which means it is going across the border and I have to pay the duty on those packages, so anything over $25.00 cost me a percentage. These duty fees are not my responsibility and they will be added to the final fee.
With that said, I only charge $20.00 for the service, plus return shipping (if you want the drive back). If you do not want the drive back, then its free and I keep the broken drive. The broken drive I refer too is a complete drive, not just pieces of a drive stuffed into a bag and shipped to me expecting me to make use of it after it has been thrown around by the post office for 2 weeks as it get to me.
Sry to sound so pissed off but I will not accept any more packages like this. I will refuse them at the post office if they are in a bag or if there are customs fees to be paid.
