I had a working modded xbox system for 2 years and working perfectly, until I tried to change the bios using Slayer Version 2.5.
Having a V1.5 I should of used a 256Kbios, but instead I accidently chose a 1MB bios. Option 7.3 of slayer.
Now my xbox keeps fragging.
Is it the chip that is bad or the xbox.
Do I need to buy a new Xbox or just a new chip?? Is there a way to salvage this system?? With the chip turned off I get service required. Call Customer Support screen.

What is the error number that your service screen has in the top left corner?

and you shouldn't need to buy a new xbox or chip, just buy a programmer for around $20 and flash the chip properly.

The version of the Xbox has nothing to do with what size bios file you have to use to flash your chip. You shouldn't use a 256k bios, you should use a 512k bios.

Thanks for your help, I will order the programmer and will re-flash the bios. I just thought maybe it did something to the mother board.

What about a Hot-Swap. Will this fix/upload the correct bios on the chip. My friend has a V1.0 with the same mod chip.

Yes, you could hot swap the chip if you want.

I still haven't received the programmer, but "Rookio" asked about the error code. it is Error Code 5. Since the xbox doesn't work without the switch and I get the error code does that mean I have my box locked or unlocked. Shouldn't it still work with Authentic games???

I've been looking and can't locate something that tells me which bios I should be using. I have a V1.5 with a 160G hard drive.
What is the difference between all of them???

Error 5 means the hard drive is not locked. The Xbox will not boot with the drive unlocked and the chip off.

Download X2 5035 from xbins, and be sure to use the vOld file. The other one is for a 1.6/1.6b.
