Flash Bios

I just gotten my xbox, ordered it from a company with a premounted X-ecuter 3 chip and a 120gb hdd. I need to flash the chip myself to be able to play backups. It was supposed to be delivered with a "cromwell bios"? with the necessary functions.

But when i start the xbox up the only trace from having a modchip installed is the flashy badge on the front with the switch. Wich was off off off off on when delivered.

I have been doing lots of reading and gotten myself the bios, prepared a disc but how the f do I get to Flash Bios? Do I need to press something? If so all the guides have left that part out, or is the chip just not installed right and its supposed to show on boot?

Getting annoyed! Wanna play!!

did they tell you what version of xbox it is?

switch setting (on on off off off) should boot cromwell 3.01 xbox versions 1.0 - 1.5
switch setting (off on off off off) should boot cromwell 3.03 xbox versions 1.6/1.6b

No idea what version of xbox, just assumed the latest


Tried to boot it with either those configs and it just dont give a damn. Just happily spins up MS dashboard.

just a short tap on the power button, xecuter logo should be blue on the switch for enabled.

red if disabled.

WOhooo!! That worked?!? Havent read that anywhere....


BUT the screen that popped up looks nothing like the FlashBIOS screen from the guides...

Says alot of things:

X3 Detected: Build 3029 Dip settings etc..
Harddrive info etc...

Then theres a fancy menu:

X3 Config Live
Bios Tools
Disk Tools
EEprom Tools
etc..

Tried Bios Tools then another menu popped up, main or backup?

Wich one? or should I read some other guide aside FlashBIOS? Cause this sure doesnt look the same

sounds like your all set, the is the xecuter bios 3029. appears to already be flashed with the hacked bios.

But if you do wanna update the bios is the way I described above correct?
What guide should I look for if it isnt for FlashBIOS?

yes, you can re-flash with updated bios from there (main rom). i would find out what version of xbox you have first though.

Just a last question, the switches on the front should they be set back to off off off off on now that I dont intend to flash or do I have to keep em on on off off off so that it knows from where to boot?

I guess I can switch back the last one the protection switch atleast. Dont wanna do anything stupid now...

no, they need to stay at on on off off off. the last dip switch is flash protect you might change to ON. that way no accidental flash to the memory location. right now x3 3029 is on the 1st 1mb memory bank. you will need to boot from that.

OK I lied got more questions...

This one is slightly offtopic, is it supposed to boot into the config everytime? I see the splash screen, xbox logo pops up, xecuter logo pops up then it sends me to config and I have to choose boot to dashboard wich was EvolutionX with a stupid skin mod from the store

Also I tried to burn a backup and when I insert it with the dashboard up it says in the right upper corner: Tray eject/open/closing and finally it says Game but nothing happends. Bad burn? or do I once again have to press something?


And I checked the info in the x3 config and according to that its v1.6 box I got. Dont know if thats reliable though.
Alot on this post but back ontopic, if I decide to flash can i simply switch to off on off off and flash those banks instead so I wont ruin the now working bios?

you can disable X3CL, in X3 config live >Customize X3 bios> autolaunch disable. to get back in hold the white button during boot up.

i'm not familiar with evolutionx, as i have only ever used unleashx.

if you put the disk in and reboot, it should run the disk. if not bad burn, tutorial is on the teamxecuter home page. xbox's are also picky with media types.

i just got my xbox in the mail and now when i try to do a network flash it wont connect then i decided to create a cd i got the dummy file but the flash i need is flashbios v.3.03 and the site wont do a downlaod someon heeeeeeellllllppppp

bogacki if you have a x3 then flashbios should be on chip allready try power eject at same time to get flashbios if not try switch setting on on off off off or off on off off off to find flashbios reboot xbox when you set switchers
The bios you need is
X3 3294 for v1.0 to v1.5 xboxs
X3 3294 v16 plus for v1.6 v1.6b xboxs
