Try cycling power to the Xbox by unplugging then plugging back in. Then reset the JRP. This may or may not be the answer, but it often helps me.

Every time I've gotten the flash config 0x00000000 can not continue error, it has come down to me needing to touch up my soldering. I know you said you didn't touch your solder points after you read your nand, but try and just touch everything up and confirm continuity with a multimeter. Perhaps you had one point that was barely holding on and finally gave way....it's worth a shot.

What USB modifications. If you've shorted the 5v line I'm fairly certain you won't be able to r/w the nand - but that's from an extremely hazy memory!

To be honest with you, I have not had good experiences with the J-R programmer, It will often work at first use then all of a sudden give errors and not be able to be used as expected at times, I believe this is an issue with the bootloader mode, once in that mode its hard to get it back to normal "nand reading" mode, to be honest never figured out a good, prompt solution to get it back up and running normal, only because I have a nand-x and just reverted to it when I got into this situation. I actually returned mine to xconsoles for a replacement, of course been the good re-seller they are, they sent a replacement as soon as they received the one I sent them. Even with the new one I have the issue. The best thing is to leave it for a few days, once you have done that, try using it again, it should return to normal mode.

Honestly, while this may be a unlikely solution, as it seems I know, it requires no resoldering and potential damage and may work for you, just a heads up from experience.

I know all TX products are great, and they are, but as far as reading nands, the nand-x is the top shelf product, if you need rater and other advantages of j-r programmer, just be aware of these common issues.

Bootloader mode isnt something new, its standard for that variant of PIC. Ive killed 6 nandx's but only on my 2nd JRP so you know where my favour sides.

While I agree it does sometimes randomly kick into BL mode, I find it quite easy to get out. Just reflash the JRP through Jrunner and it should be good as new. The hex file is included in JRunner as well as part of the core pack.

I agree with you, I'm not going to argue with experience, I only dispute with "untested guidelines", but in my experience, I have had more trouble with J-R programmer than nand X, when ever I'm doing a Jtag/RGH, I always use my NandX and in my experience it has always worked for me, I mean, lets think about it, the nand-x and J-r programmer are both TX products, so even if we disagree on which is better, dont we both agree that TX is awesome? lol...

For the record, I have only had one Nand-X and it was used, sold to me by a friend here on this forum and the JRP, I have had about 4 and don't use them to be honest, I usually get them in a bundle because its cheaper than buying the parts separately.

For newbs its something new, I remember the 1st day I used a J-R programmer and had the same problem, I, been experienced of course, didn't sweat it and simply used my nandx instead, but others that are new to this and don't realize the J-R programmer is not as good as a nand-x, but are convinced it is better due to the more features it has
