X3

I Turned it on, flashbios comes up (yay!)
I do the CD flash to get 1959 on there (step by step by the tutorial)
All goes well, it flashes successfully, and turns off
I turn it back on, nice blue light on the X3 logo, no video.......

So i figured it was 13 and 14 that needed some work (as per xecuter's thread about the matter). Except for one difference, all the people who had problems with the 13 & 14 could play with the chip disabled. I get no video either way, disabled, enabled....the only thing i get video with is FlashBIOS.

Any idea what could be keeping me from booting the normal ms bios (i.e. chip disabled). I'm willing to bet that if i fix THAT, i can boot the X3 bios.

Oh yea, no FRAG whatsoever.

If it will help i will take some hi-res pictures and post them. But any ideas as of yet?

Try touching up those two pins. Or start taking things off in reverse from insstalling and see if you can get the original ms dash to load.

Well after troubleshooting this about 20 times..... I just decided to dump the chip and play with a stock xbox. I removed everything (except the pinheader) but it's still not booting for some reason.... No FRAG or anything, but no video either.....period.

Oh well, i guess i must have done something wrong.

I still find it weird that FlashBIOS was working with no problems tho.....

No use crying over spilled milk tho, after $150 for an xbox + 59 for a modchip + 72 for a hard drive, i'm left with a real expensive paperweight. Kind of sucks tho, i had like 4 guys from work wanting to see how mine went...needless to say "not tooo good".

Remove the pinheader. Check for any solder splashes, broken traces, anything like that. You havent said how well your soldering is but it doesnt hurt to retry. Also what video/av pack are you using?

Which probe to buy for Liteon drive?

I was wondering which probe to purchase? I see the ones listed in the JF Tutorial, but I want the best for the buck (like it will work for any dvd brand and model).

Re: Which probe to buy for Liteon drive?

probes will only work for lite-on 7xxx series

therefore, just buy something that you can hook a probe up to

because all dvd drives will be able to be powered by the unit
