I am having trouble flashing a xecuter 2.6 using the programmer. I am using X2 bios manager v2.3. It detects the chip fine but when I attempt to flash it it hangs up at 25%. When I try and verify it gives me "error at flash address" the code following changes depending on which bios I have loaded. I have tried this on two different modchips using two different selector chords and switches and have gotten the same results. Also have tried with 3 different computers. Also hangs up when trying other flash programs.

This all startedwhen I got a corrupt bios on bank 2 on my chip and tried to reflash it on through the xbox but it wouldn't let me, removed it and tried to flash it using the programmer and now both banks are corrupt.

I have flashed them before using all the same setup and don't understand why it isn't working now.

I have the chip switch setup as follows:
chip enable -on
flash protect -off
bank -tried it on both banks

Any help would be appreciated.

What bios are you trying to flash with?

I had the same problem as you when I first tried the programmer, but then I tired to flash the chip with flashbios on both banks and that worked and it would then let me flash it with the X2 5035 bios.

Make sure that your programmer is connected as it should. Are you using a cable to connect? If you are try without. Also check if you got a blue light when programming, mine was not constant so I made sure it had a good connection.

The recovery methods I'm aware of for a problem flash on a 2.6CE chip would be either a hot swap or a programmer. The programmer being the better method.

I'll echo Kim's suggestion of removing the extension cable from the picture. (If you're using one... I looked again at the initial post and it doesn't get mentioned.) When I used a programmer with a cable I did have success, but not 100% of the time. See if you can connect the programmer directly to the back of the PC and then try again.

if you have a RS232 Cable it should fix the issue. Was getting the same error then tried it with cable and it worked. For some reason if you connect the programmer right into the computer you get that issue. Hope this helps

I am not using a cable, I plug the programmer directly into the back of the computer.
I have tried a number of different bios' and it acts the same, but sometimes gives different addresses for the error code.

One wierd thing, X2 manganger won't let me flash when I put flash 3.03 on both banks. If I put flash bios3.03 on bank three, it takes up bank 3 and 4, but when I put it onto bank one it only takes up bank 1 and leaves bank 2 empty. The flash button does not become presssable, if that makes sense. Also it will do the same thing if I try a 1mb bios.

Both blue lights are on. The one on the chip and the one on the programmer. The one on the programmer come on when I try to flash, even blinks a few times then it spits out a error.

Have you tried X2BM version 2.1? Right on the download page it states "Earlier version. Try this is v2.3 doesn't work for you."

Just a thought...
