As the title suggests, I've got a new install - v1.1xbox, x3ce chip. whenever I attempt to flash an x3 bios, the process freezes about a third of the way through the flashing process.. this is for network, and disc based flashing. I'm pretty sure it's not network/soldering related, as i've managed to flash the latest evox bios to the chip.. Any suggestions?

Are you flashing a 1mb bank?

First thing I double checked! :) Tried both 1mb banks (on,on,off, off & off,on,off, off) both produce the same result. Just tried an old x2 bios and it produced the same issue, but got about half way though the flash before locking up.
<edit> I've also tried flashing from the Hdd. Same issue :( </edit>

In the absence of any kind of reply (you're not all pulling your 360's apart already are you?) I'm gonna go ahead and double check my soldering.. it looks like the issue is with any Xecuter bios, so I'm hoping I was alittle light on the solder with those two points...

I would retouch all the solder points to make sure they are all good.
Pins 13 and 14 are the ones that seem to cause most of these kinds of problems.
Also try downloading the bios again in case it's corrupt. (3294 from xbins of course ) and make sure you aren't using the v16 plus on your 1.1 xbox.

Right then.... I unsoldered, and then resoldered all of the pin header points, to ensure that it was a decent clean bond. Still the same issue. I redownloaded a new copy of the bios. Still the same issue. As a complete fluke, I tried it without the external switch connected.. (now, before you point fingers, i've double, triple and quadrouple checked the external switch positions, but it looks like the issue i've been having is down to a faulty switch.) as the chip defaults to the first 1mb bank, the flash process worked.
Grr.
About to extract a new switch from the retailer that supplied the chip in the first place...
Thanks for your help!
