Flash of X3_1959_v16plus hangs after 3/4

Hi

I have a X3 installed into a v1.6 PAL Crystal (samsung memory).

I have successfully updated bank 1 with flash 3.0.1 using html.

I am trying to install X3_1959_v16plus.

I have tried installing to banks 1234 and to banks 5678.
I have tried a html and a CD update.

In both cases the earse completes and the install starts. The progress bar (green on yellow) gets about 3/4 the way along and then stops.

Any suggestions on what to try next, gratefully received.

Just use bank 1 and 2 for the oringnal bios.

What appears to be happening is that when banks 1234 are selected, banks 1235 seam to be being accessed.

I have installed 3.0.1 to all banks, and then tried to install X3 (a 1Mb BIOS) to 1234. Banks 1235 are all erased, banks 123 get written to and then chip hangs.

Has anyone any ideas for me to try?

Are you suggesting installing X3 to banks 12? It is a 1Mb and not 512k image, so I'm not sure that would work. I'll give it a try.

the only way you can flash banks 5-8 and the backup rom are by flashing it through the x3 config live ftp/http/from hdd, you can't do so with flashbios

Using flashbios 3.0.1 and selecting the banks using the dip switchs on the front, I programmed each of the banks in turn.

Does one not program banks 5-8 by selecting the apprioate DIP switches and then use a browser to upload the new flash?

I have tried loading different 256k images in different banks, and then boot from them and that seamed to work.

I'll have another play with that, to confirm the behaviour, and make sure I'm not just doing something stupid.

btw What is x3 config live?

X3 Config live is the interface for the X3 bios. ( i.e. X3 1959)

well yes that can work, but technically the flashbios is only meant to flash banks 1234. while it is better to use x3 config live to flash those other banks, yes for the people smart enough to set the dips correctly before flashing yes your way will work also

man I am having the same prob how did you fix it as I have the files from xbins so I know there legit.


I tried to flash it the first time with only bank 1 on and I think it went through (its late and I am tired) But now with booting to the backup recovery I flash it via dvd and it hangs 3/4

I burned a new flashbios dvd and go through "load bios with CD" and it will hang about half way through????
I am pulling out my hair any help would be app

Well, that explains my problem. I tried to flash 5678 and it hung on bank 8. When I get my box back I'll have to try it again. My parents took it right in the middle of the flashing phase.

Hey, man. Try using HTTP flashing. It's much easier and faster and you'll
lose less hair doing it. It's less stress. And make sure you only have banks 1&2 on

I still have the same behaviour, and unless I've missed something, I can only use X3 config live after I've managed to install X3_1959.

What is the original filename of the bios you are flashing?

Note: I have successfully flashed and used M8plus_16.bin, but it is 256k and I think the issue is something to do with bank 4 and 5 selection.

Perhaps some of the banks are just completely shot. Maybe you should send the chip to Xecuter and have them look at it.

I have now successfully flashed X3!

I disconected the front switch panel and flashed over http using 3.0.1

Which, by default, flashed banks 1234. Wierd that it didn't work before.

Hi, I already put everything apart, how do i flash lteon drive. I have the sata card already in my pc connect to my xb. I run iprep to load the ixtrem 1.61, and it say no port found... .. do i missing something here. I am super newbie..
1) sata card. i have it
2)firmware ixtrem 1.61 and Ipre. I got it. what else?

You should ditch iPrep and get yourself Jungle Flasher. Go to the Jungle Flasher website, go to the downloads page and under Jungle Flasher click on the latest version of the program to download it. This application will run on your desktop so you don't need to boot into DOS. Next, download the Jungle Flasher Tutorial under Guides & Tutorials on the same page.
