Ok, to start this post, I would like to say that this is my first post and that I read the "Please Read Before Posting" post. I have already searched the forum for the problem I am having and found other people having the problem but nothing that has really helped. I am going to try and give as much information as possible in this first post so the obvious questions will not have to be asked by the people who know quite a bit more about modding than I. Ok, here goes.

Xbox v 1.4
X3 CE
Samsung DVD-Rom
40 gig HDD

With the chip plugged into the board, as soon as the power cable is plugged in, the xbox powers on by itself. The external switch shows that the chip is disabled (red X). I have unplugged the external swith and it no longer powers on by itself. But when I quickly press the power button it turns on, off, on, off, on, frag. If I unplug the power/eject bored and it will not boot with the chip plugged into the motherboard. Now I hook everything back up and hold in the power and eject buttons to get to the backup bios. Whenever I try to flash I get a "Unknown Flash Halting!". I have tried every combination of the switches on the external switch. The flash protect is off on the external switch and on the chip itself (red light). I have tried to flash the bios with different X3 bios, all from 1959 to 3108. I have tried multiple CD-Rs and DVD-Rs that i know work because I flashed my other chip with those 5 mins before I tried this one. I have tried the network flash and flashing from the harddrive. Still get the Unknown flash error. This chip worked for about a month and then somehow the Video Region was changed and my tv went crazy. I have fixed that problem by changing in from PAL back to NTSC so that is no longer an issue. Next, I know it is not the soldering before anyone asks. I hooked a different X3CE chip on the pin header and these problems do not exsist with the new chip. The new chip flashed like a champ over my network and booted right into unleashX dashboard. Mainly I would like to know if anyone knows a solution to this problem or if I could just get a second opinion about if it is a problem with the chip and needs to be returned.

Hopefully this is not too hard to read and I gave as much information that is needed to get the results I am hoping for, if not I am sorry and I will answer any questions.

I would first suggest holding down A+B+X+Y on startup until you get through the booting process, it resets the EEPROM, and it might stop being an ass at that point.

Happy Modding!

Thanks for the response. I did forget to put that in the initail post that I have already tried that and could not get that to work. I held down A+X+Y+B before it powered up and after it started booting. Held them for about 2 mins each time I tried and it would never reboot on its own. I also downloaded the EEPROM eraser for the X3 but I don't exactly know how to use it properly or if it would even help.

Well the EEPROM eraser is tricky. You have to download it to your hd first.
So basically you would need to be able to use a boot cd, ala Slayers 2.6 to boot the Xbox. Next Slayers starts an FTP program on bootup, so you would then FTP into your Xbox and download the Erase_X3.xbe file to your HD. After that you would use the application loader to "open" Erase_X3.xbe. It resets the X3 completely, and you're in.

I'm not sure if you would be able to run Slayers at that point, but you can always try!

(You can download Slayers 2.6 Final from xbins, or do a search on xbox-scene.com)

I have similar issue. I flashed it in the past, previous mobo replaced. Now when I go to flash it over HTTP it says halting. I'm using the most current 3294.bin file (not 1.6, board is 1.2-1.5) Ive tried banks on on off off off, and disconnecting the dip panel and using only the protection dip on the x3 itself in both directions, same problem. Previous flash doesn't work because it comes on and off 3 times and stops. Does boot to M$ when holding power on... does boot to bios if both eject and on button are held.
