FlashBIOS 3.0.1 Erasing Problem

Ok, I've read through all the tutorials reguarding Flashing the X3 CE chip, and It still will not flash. Both flash protect switches are off, bank is set to (On, On, Off,Off,Off) I'm using the latest Bios form Xbins and have tried both Http and CD Methods of flashing. I have also booted from the backup bank to reflash and still no result.

Problem: When Bio erase phase (Yellow Bar) comes up, it stops at 1/4 of the way. I've tried the 3 latest Bios and have the same result. When I did the CD method I belive the media had to something to do with it, and I will retry it later. As for the Http method, Nothing seems to work at all, it just stays at 1/4 erase. At least with the CD method I got to 1/4 in the install phase (green bar).

Any input is very much appreciated

Is the bios a 1mb file? Did you extract the .rar file?
Yep, extracted and burned with dummy file through cd method, trying CD-RW later today.

Does flashing your backup BIOS erase your main BIOS? Sorry I'm confused on exactly what the backup BIOS does. Forgive me for being retarded.

the backup bios is completly separate to the main bios.( if you want to you can update the backup bios via config live), but if it aint broke dont fix it.

access the backup by pressing power and eject at the same time.

I know how to access it and it boots up with Flash 3.01 but I dont understand what its purpose is. I was told to leave it with Flash. Why?

Ok sorry for again being retarded. So if I boot up in flashbios (backup) and flash the BIOS from CD (or FTP) it will reflash the main BIOS? I guess the reason I was confused is because I flashed my backup BIOS and my main BIOS was fine so I saw no difference. I think you answered my questions. Thanks Matt here some rep points LOL.

One more question. Is there a FAQ about the bank switches, what they do and how to use them?

LOL i'm back. Sorry for being a pest. So from what I see on here for my BIOS (1mb X3) there are two banks correct? And I can load a different BIOS on each one? And if so why would I do that, wouldnt that cause problems?

there is 2mb of memory that cant be split into whatever you like, but for know just use the first 1mb bank.

i use 2 bios 's my normal x3 bios on 1mb bank 1 and a debugx2 bios on bank 2 for writting stuff. and just switch between the 2.

Oh ok thats how you setup the debug BIOS. What kind of options do you have in the debug? And is that something I should try and learn or just forget about.

Ok, question, all the extra stuff that comes in the .rar file, Do I need to burn all that to the disk too? or just use the Bios that comes with it. If I can burn the entire extracted file (extra stuff included) how do I burn it to a disk so that it may flash?

Ok after hours of messing around, checking solder points, Bios versions, multiple falshing methods, checking and re-checking the flash protection...I have made no progress. I'm begining to think the chip is defective. Any input?
