FlashBIOS 3.0.3 USB Init?

Hey I have a problem with my flashbios 3.0.3.

Basically i ftp'd it to the hard drive. Then used x3 live config to flash it. I flashed 1959 to the chip (same method) not one hitch. (pal-60 fixed).

I used original filenames on the harddrive and I believe the ftp transfer was binary. Flash was successful, rebooted but when i go into flashbios it starts with a weird:

USB INIT

text. It freezes on that. Didn't go any further when i left it for an hour. It all came up right and the blue background is there. But its just sits there.

Doesnt detect the harddrive or cd drive yet (just asks for usb init).

The filename for the flash was "flashbios_v303", no quotes.

Xbox 1.0
Samsung 616t 32x DVD rom (replacement drive)
250gb WD HDD. (Doesnt have locking capabilities)
x3 solder install with d0 etc soldered (front panel setup).

I really dont know whats wrong. I reflashed 2 times (same file, same problems, no errors). I was sortof wondering because of the text USB INIT, that I may have a wire crossed in the xbox. hmm.

The only other thing I havent listed is that i have some cat5-e crossover cable connected to my pc (syslink).

If anyone can help I would be very greatful. I havent tried renaming files, or redownloading, or retransfering to the xbox because I couldnt find the problem in the forum so i thought it just may be a unique bug. Thanks.

I had the same problem but then took my Xbox DVD IR port off and now it's working fine. I get the menus and everything. I can't believe no one figured this out before. It took me 3 days! :)

Just took the DVD dongle out of the xbox. Worked perfectly.

Thanks for posting the solution. But one thing? Whats new about this version that it doesnt recognise the DVD dongle? I havent taken my dongle out in ages and it would boot previously.

Something you guys can inprove on i guess. :p

You just have to take the dongle off if you want to use FlashBIOS for flashing. Other than that, you can have it hooked up all the time. I flashed to 1959 via FTP (not through FlashBIOS) with my dongle attached and it flashed fine. Just remove the dongle if you want to use FlashBIOS 3.0.3.

glad I found this thread. I was going nutty with my flashbios 3.0.0 not working, so I got 3.0.3, still nothing.

Take out the DVD Dongle and voila!

Re: changing hitachi to a liteon

Short Answer No. I believe from what I have read on these forums is that you cannot spoof to a Liteon and have LT work for you. I believe that was one of the checks MS does on the system.

Perhaps someone else can verify but that's my understanding. Unfortunately, I think you will need to wait until LT get's released for your drive type.
