I burned it to a memorex CD-RW, and i used the bios file, and the dummy file, but when i put the cd in, it says the xbox cannot recognise the disc. I have an xbox 1.6 and an xecuter 3 CE

try another brand of disk m8,you may need to use a dvdr (somthing like a ritek gen 4 dark purple) do some reading on the forums about different disk brands.
also find out what make your dvd is by looking here if you dont want to open your console

Memorex cd-rw works on my Thomson drive so it maybe also the way you burn is the problem. Did you change the bios filename to bios.bin? Pardon me for asking this but just wanna make sure.
I have a samsung drive, and when i burn with nero, i did the bios.bin thing, and it gives a whole bunch of read errors, i dont know why, is this because i did not finalize the disc?

After lots of CD's that are now only used as frisbee's I discovered that a Sony CDRW works perfect for me. I'm xe3ce, xbox 1.6 with a Samsung drive. I renamed the 3294 bios as BIOS.BIN and loaded a 100mb dummy file... worked perfect and I havent looked back since.
If you a noob (like me) then install the Slayers Evox Installer (also from #xbins) after loading the Bios. Really is foolproof and I've still got this great big xbox shaped grin on my face
