FlashBios Question

Hi, wen moving to bios build 2913 i flashed the new bios on banks 5,6,7,8
Now im about to flash the 3029 build but then i realize i can't boot my flashbios by pressing eject+power.
is the flashbios installed on one of the banks where i put the 2913 bios? And what is the easiest way to restore the backup.

Would be nice to be able to boot flashbios if i screw something up in the future

EDIT: Found a sulotuion to my problem.
But still would be nice to know where the flashbios is stored?

well basically u got 2MB on the main modchip which the dip switches u mess with on front of the xbox controll... and u got a 256KB backup bios which is located in another part of the chip... this 256KB bios is the bios your xbox attempts to load when u press the eject+power at same time to turn it on.

so your saying u basically have 2 x3 bios's on your modchip? if this is the case u have NO flashbios left on the modchip at all besides the one thats located in the backup bios.

look around for tutorials on howto update the backup bios... just be carefull.

Thanks for the helpful information cleard all of my questions.

Booting my backup rom seems to bee quite a pain in the ***.
After having banks 5,6,7,8 updated i need to select 1,2,3,4 with the dip switches to get acces to the backup bios. But if now when i updated 1,2,3,4 with the latest build i had to select banks 5,6,7,8 to access the backup rom.

Is this a known thing or just my chip playing some tricks on me?

By the way what flashbios is suitable for a 1.6 xbox? Read some where about 3.0.3 being uncompatible with some 1.6 machineS?

SO if you get the black screen / orange flashing / no eject then you have a v1.6b and the mod is switched to v3.01 - you need it switched to v3.03"

that should clear up your question about flashbios compatibility... basically it's saying 1.6b xbox's work only with FlashBIOS v3.03 .... v3.01 if for 1.6 or older xbox's.

Humm, seems to me like my chips has flashbios 3.0.0 in all banks.
Probably just an old chip?

Strange thing is that once i could only boot with banks 1,2,3,4 and after updating the only backup that booted was 5,6,7,8
Seems to me that this is really strange? The bakup rom is supposed to stay the same even after updating the main rom...

However, porblem solved! Just some curiosity left
