1. Installed 2.6CE Solderless chip
2. Blue screen came up just fine showing installation was good
3. Downloaded 5035_old bios, created 100MB dummy file, renamed bios to bios.bin, burned to DVD-R at 4X following instructions found at Team Xecuter
4. Booted up, selected to update BIOS from CD
5. Recognized DVD, "said" it updated the Bios, green line went all the way across the screen, then XBox shut off

Now everytime I turn on the XBox it keeps going to the screen asking me to update the Bios.

Where did I go wrong, what else do I need to do?

Thanks

Check to make sure you have the bank select switch set to bank 1. It's probably set to bank 2 (and FlashBIOS always starts to flash from Bank 1).

Thanks.

I had it set to bank 1 and made the flash, it staill goes back to the flash bios screen. I even tried changing it to bank 2, flashed the bios, then switched it back to 1 and it still went back to the bios flash screen. Urgg...

Ok, I get up this morning... turn it on and it booted up into the new Bios just fine. Go figure what a little sleep will do for you. LOL, thanks for the help.

I've slapped in my Slayer's 2.6 Auto-Installer and I'm not sure what options to select, should I run #2 to backup my EPROM and then select #3 for a full install/rebuild?

Thanks

I only use Slayers CD as a boot disk (and then FTP from there).

Whatever you choose to do with it, make the first task to FTP your C and E drives over to your PC.

There's an option to install evox, xbmc and apps to E - I suggest you use this instead. A full install/rebuild will more than likely format the HDD - losing everything you've currently got on there.

LOL, thanks everyone but I hadn't mentioned it yet but the VERY first thing I did when I got connectivity was to copy all of C and E to my PC and burned it all to a CD (350MB).

Ok, but what I got from Martin was just to do an install of the Evo apps to the "E" drive, not a full rebuild.

Martin, I have been using Slayers as a boot disc also, but... if I copy all the apps over to "E" then how will I get to them?

islander223, I like the idea of getting back to the standard XBox Dashboard when I don't use Slayers as a boot disc. If I wipe it all out and place the Evo apps on E, won't I also lose the MS Dashboard?

I thought about using the option that places Evo on C and the apps on F, but I've never seen a screen shot of what it will look like once I've replaced the MS Dashboard with Slayers Evo dashboard.

Thanks

You install the Apps on E and also the dashboard. You then edit the ini file to load the dashboard from the E: drive.

This keeps your C drive clean and also be able to boot the MS Dash with the chip disabled.

I hate to be a broken record, but installation of dashboards etc are covered in the many stickys etc on this site and Xbox-Scene.com

You cannot put your Apps on F if you'll not replace your stock drive with a larger one, Full Rebuild Retail Drive option only uses partition E for Games & Apps folders. If you really want to maximize your modded xbox features, putting a larger drive is a must.
