Flashed wrong BIOS/can't recover

I have an XBox 1.6b and flashed incorrectly with X3 3294.bin and not the X3 3294 v16plus.bin. Yeah, I know. I was overly eager, what can I say? I'm not sure what my switch settings were, but I think they were "OFF ON OFF OFF".

Now when I try and boot I either get no display with a yellow/orange cdrom light or three boots and a frag depending on the switch settings. When I try to boot the backup I by Power/Eject I get the same result.

How do I reflash from here and what should the switch settings be when I do so? I thought I'd be able to get to the backup at least. Crap!

you have a v1.6b xbox and have flashed over your only working flashbios 3.0.3
flashbios 3.0.1 switch setting on on off off off works with v1.6
flashbios 3.0.3 switch setting off on off off off works on v1.6b
you now have to do a hotswap
flashbios 3.0.1 is all so on your backup bank power eject at same time

I don't understand. I thought the idea of the backup was to...well, have a backup. How is the backup destroyed? What purpose does it actually serve if not to fall back to?

Is there a link for doing a hotswap? Although since I don't know anyone with a modded Xbox I don't know what purpose it will serve. I think I'm forced to purchase another chip.

this is why they flash the main bios bank with both flashbios once you flash x3 bios you can flash the x3 backup bank with a working flashbios with x3 bios

The reason why the backup doesn't work for you is because you have a 1.6b. Xbox versions 1.0-1.6 all work fine with Flashbios 3.0.1 so they load that as the backup by default. Unfortunately due to the memory I believe in the 1.6b they hd to create Flashbios 3.0.3 which isn't compatible with all previous versions. So by default when you get a chip they load both versions of flashbios. Bank 1 and backup contains Flashbios 3.0.1, bank 2 contains Flashbios 3.0.3. Obviously when you flash your chip with a 1.6b you should boot up into Flashbios 3.0.3 then change the switches to bank 1 (on,on,off,off) then flash the x3 bios. Once this is done you then go into config live and flash flashbios 3.0.3 into your backup.

Good luck getting the hot swap done m8, it shouldn't be too hard.

same prob but no backup can i use the xecuter programmer 2 flash an orig x3 chip with the 2.6 bios manager software like it says on the software x3 support is added but only for the 1st 1mb bank and an older bios which is fine. Need help want 2 no if buying the programmer is a waste of my money

it wont work, its for X3. X3 never needed one since the backup was meant to take of it, except 1.6b came out....

I too did the same and now have a brand new x3ce that doesnt work. I'm a complete noobe . (I put a 256K bios on bank 5678)

So the backup bios may still on this chip, (bank1234) but since I too have a 1.6b, it's unreachable.

About hot swaping, could I do this with a 2.6ce chip as it does have flashbios 3.0.3 too. Thing is the 2.6 has a power switch on the chip. But the 3 is powered on from the front panel.

Or, perhaps I could put my fudged 3 mod onto a non 1.6b box and get to the backup and go from there and the put back flashbios 3.0.3 back on bank 5678?

Thing is the 2.6 has a power switch on the chip. But the 3 is powered on from the front panel.

I have no idea what you are talking about here. The X3 doesn't get power from any "front panel". How could it? Power comes from the LPC port for any chip.

Um, I thought that these mods have a enable/disable power switch on them as I read in the hot swap tut. I guess that this is not the case with the x3ce chip.

I'm going to try this as soon as I can hook up with another mod.
