So, Because the customer was rushing me, I flashed the X3 Bios onto the X2.6 chip. Now it no longer boots. The famous, on, off, on, off, on (red & green flashes).

So, I hear you can buy a programmer and program it... Not likely, this might be the last xbox I ever do.... OR, you can do a Hot swap....

PLEASE explain hot swap.

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone please explain how to do a "hotswap". From the name I can assume that you swap the chip into place while the system is on. Is there a certain time to do this swap?

I just did this last week for ther first time. It worked flawlessly!

Grab an xbox that has a working mod chip in it. Power it up to a boot disk that can flash the bios or an application on the hard drive that can flash the bios (I used the new Slayers Evox Install Disk). Select the bios to flash but before you flash the chip, carefully remove the working chip with the failed chip. Also ensure that the protect switch is set to off. Flash the chip, and you should be good to go provided you selected the right bios file!

This is EXACTLY what I just did (flashed the Xecuter 2.6CE with the X3 BIOS - DUH!) But I've read the tutorial referred on the above post, and I don't understand. Do I boot to Slayer's DVD on the working modded XBox ... then while it's opened swap out the mod chip with the XBox still on?? I thought that once you unplug the chip, the system will fail.
