Hi all,
I've read many postings now, but have not found someone who had a similar problem. I have an Xbox version 1.6, and have installed a X3CE w/Xapter.
-FlashBIOS 3.0.1 comes up, switches set to [on on off off off]
-Enable network flashing, get valid ip address
-Navigate browser to that ip address, browse for "X3 3294 v16plus.bin", select flash.
-Bios erases and then flashes, Xbox shuts off automatically
-I power it back up (short power press) and the fans come on and it seems like the Xbox tries to boot, but then it shuts off (1.5 to 2seconds total)
-Xbox won't start, but the backup FlashBIOS boots fine

So anyone have any ideas? I tried a few other bioses, like the m8plus and X3 3029 v16plus. But they all do the same thing.

Am I suposed to reset the switches before booting up for the first time? Anything you guys can think of to try? Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Cheers, B

Hi, thanks for the response. I'm sure its a v1.6. Its got an Xcalibur video chip, samsung ram. I got all the bioses that I tried from #xbins. I guess i can try the switches in the [off on off off off] and see if that changes anything. Any more ideas? thanks again.

I'll recheck it. But since I'm able to use flashbios, doesn't that mean I have a proper install? I left off the LAN, HD to the X3ce switch, and D0 cables to X3ce, because I was under the impression that my Xapter3 had taken care of those signals. Am I wrong about this?

Hey brad_j_barne, ONLY the HDD and LAN are optional. You still need to do the D0 point but with the Xapter install, you don't need to solder in the D0 point but instead will use one of the gold plated cable and plug it into the D0 point. From what I can see, i think that your install is not to do with D0 point because if you can boot the xbox using the chip then D0 is giving the signal to the box to boot from the LCP port. Try checking your install again by making sure that the Xapter makes good contact with the mobo. I did my install by pressing the Xapter down real hard and then turn the screw to make it lie flat with the mobo. If this does not fix the problem then try flashing the 2nd bank [off on off off off] and boot from it. I think that the enw BIOS should be a 1MB bios.

Hey, thanks for the help DJBOOBY and vincentn2k2. It turns out the xapt3r wasn't making good contact with the xbox, so I set it back on there, pushed it down firmly while I screwed it in, reset the box, and the X3 bios came up. Thanks again.
