I have just recently installed the chip, and everything was ok, I got to the Blue Flashbios screen. So the next step was to install the bios “X3 1959” I was unable to get the unit to update from the CD-Drive, (I think I didn’t have suitable CD-R media), so I used the HTTP option, it started updating ok, the yellow update bar completed, but the secondary green bar only got about 1/3 of the way, and just stopped there, I left if it for about 10 minutes but no luck, now the Xbox only boots up when you don’t use the xecuter BIOS.

Please note I did have the bank switches set correctly, and I can’t get the xbox to boot up with the xecuter bios, I tried to boot up with the backup Bios, but no luck, but the xbox boots fine when I use the Microsoft BIOS.

Is there anything that I can do to run the update again? Also, I noticed that my chip has 2 versions of FlashBios “3.0.3” & “3.0.1” depending on how I had the bank switches when the unit was powered on, I am just curious about this, Please note I have a 1.6v Xbox. Which flashbios version should I be running on the 1.6? I have been reading that 3.0.3 has problems with 1.6, could you clarify this for me.

just one more thing, I keep reading on your web site to boot up the Xecuter you do I quick press of the power button, to boot the Microsoft BIOS to hold the power button for about 1-2 seconds, and for a backup rom boot you use both buttons at the same time…
I have noticed on my unit I press the Power button for a Microsoft BIOS bootup. I press the Eject Button to boot the Xecuter BIOS, and doing both buttons doesn’t do anything, It was like this since I installed the Chip & I thought this was rather odd. But all seemed to work ok, is this correct operation, or have I done something wrong? Thanks again, (an Xbox amateur )

try to put all the dip switches to the right and see if you can get the backup bios like that. if so then http your bios on there it should be the 2048 setting

I had a similar problem with eject/power switch buttons following install. Sems that a manufacturing error had allowed two solder points on that separate little power/eject board to touch; two minutes and a quick solder later and all was fine. You might want to give yours a quick once over (nice to know it isn't always OUR soldering that's the problem =)

You've flashed it with the wrong BIOS - you need the 1959_1.6PLUS verision for a 1.6 box.

The backup WILL work as this is normally 3.0.0. Try doing more like, holding the power button to boot as if with mod disabled - but instantly pressing the eject - and the X should flash purple -release immediately and you should get the backup. I found this more reliable than simply trying to press both at once. From experience people who say their backup doesnt work simply arent able to access it prooperly - user error.

Once there, put the switches back to the on,on,off, off position and leave em !

Flash away.

Play Xbox.

Job done.
