I think I posted the other topic in the wrong section.
http://www.360mods.net/Forums/viewtopic/t=4378.html

Hi I am planing on flashing a friends Hitachi drive using iXtreme-HitachiAll-RTMv3. I have a VIA VT6421L and Slax boot CD.

From what I have read what you need to do is get it to mode b using slax. reboot, get into windows then type FLASHIX.BAT in command prompt. Then do what ever the screen says. is that right? I'd like to know what you guys did in order to get your hitachi flashed with iXtreme 1.2.

Also would it be easier using HITFLASH_birdy or Maximus - 360 FIRMWARE TOOLBOX v4? and what are the chances of me bricking his dvd drive?

Thanks

Turn the 360 and the pc on at the same with the slax cd in the pc's cd-rom while having the sata cable plugged up to your pc but not the 360.

Whenever slax first boots plug the sata cable into the 360's dvd drive. The slax cd will begin to send commands to the 360. Let it do its thing. If it hangs after it says spinning up disc...... eject the 360's dvd drive and it should then proceed. After its done and your at the slax login screen look for signs of mode b. It is in mode b if it takes 2 ejects to get the drive to open and close.

Restart your computer take the slax cd out and leave the 360 on.

At the "windows" loading screen eject the 360 dvd drive open and close a couple times.
Look in the device manager or my computer and make sure windows has detected the 360 dvd drive and note which letter it was assigned.

unzip the firmware package you downloaded in root C: After this you will need to open a command prompt in the root folder of your firmware package.
Make sure you know what the flash command is and then execute it. After it is done power off the pc first and then the 360. Hook the 360 back up and test it. If all is well backup your firmware on your pc to a safe place.

This was taken from iXtreme-HitachiAll-RTMv3 readme file. Looks simple. But how easy is it for me to brick this person's DVD drive?
>>> Usage

NOTE: "Windows Powertoy" is no longer needed, nor is having to
"dir" using the CMD prompt to the "iXtreme-HitachiAll-RTMv3"
folder to run restore.bat X [or] flashix.bat X 1234

- Simply Unrar the folder in the iXtreme-HitachiAll-RTMv3 folder
- Chose yes when asked to replace existing files
- Make sure the drive can be seen in windows 2000/XP-SP2/Vista
- dbl click the bat you want to use. thats it!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

>>> RESTORE.bat

+: Dbl clk the RESTORE.bat file.
|___:Type the dirve letter [Dd-Zz] of the Hitachi drive you wish to restore, and Enter! DONE.

When RESTORE.bat is complete, (assuming without errors)
the RESTORE.bat will forward the user to a CMD prompt.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

>>> FLASHIX.bat

+: Dbl clk the FLASHIX.bat file.
|___:Type the drive letter [Dd-Zz] of the Hitachi drive you wish to flash, and Enter!
|__:Type a name for the "X16S-?" backup folder [Aa-Zz] [1-9] and Enter! Done.

When FLAXHIX.bat is complete, (assuming without errors)
the FLAXHIX.bat will forward the user to a CMD prompt.

Flashing these drives is not hard at all and your not very likely to brick his drive. The only way you could brick his drive is if you had a power outage, or your computer locks up halfway through the flash. If you dont feel comfrotable doing it there are plently of people that will do it for you.

I can flash it. I am just gathering some info. So in terms of difficulty it exactly like the way Samsungs are flashed? Cause I had no problems when I flashed mine and someone 360

I flashed the Hitachi ver rom 0047DJ, with

iXtreme1.2_rev2_Hitachi_Sense_Fixfw.rar

then I still could not play Backups using Verbatims
But the Xbox 360 With the Toshiba-Samsung MS28 worked just fine when I flashed. I put the same backups that I made with XBC 2.6 I rip at 1X, and burn With ImgBurn 2.3 at 2.4X.

works with the MS28 but not with the Hitachi 47DJ

so then I tried to Restore the original FW

and tried to flash it with

C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth.rar

and still nothing, says unplayable disc, all my originals work fine, so really nothing wrong with the flashing,

then I Restore back to the original FW

and tried once again with

iXtreme1.2_rev2_Hitachi_Sense_Fixfw.rar

and nothing

still trying to figure out why my 47DJ will not play backups

I have a Kreon drive to the latest FW .81

its the SH-D162C (IDE)

I make the same way backups and works using Verbatim DVD+R DL

works on the MS28
but not on the 47 DJ

can anyone tell me something to help me out here

I have read tutotirals, I have try to listen to everything, but nothing is working

all I get on the 47 DJ is unplayable disc

thanks in advance
