Flashing 3.0.1

Alright, im totally new to modding and everything but i think i have the jist of it.... first...

i installed my X3 mod chip with solderless adapter, no problem there
i boot up and from what ive read (ive read anything relating to flashing the bios on the entire internet, its time to post) and well i have no trouble getting the bios (i currently downloaded "X3_3029.rar" from efnet). I then use Quix to make the whole folder into an ISO (after renaming the "X3_3029.bin" to "bios.bin"). My nero is retarded though, i have something stupid where it does not read my DVD-RW drive and has a really dumb wizard that i must use... so i just downloaded Cute CD/DVD burner and ive tried about 9 different methods of burning it, putting different files on (i have the dummy file made, using Maxell DVD-R) then on the disc i tried putting the ISO with all the files in it, i also tried just putting both .BIN files in it, but all i get when i boot up the xbox *switch set: on on off off off (flash protect internally off)* is "FlashBIOS 3.0.1

it does the exact same thing with all discs i use, i have no idea how, also, if youre supposed to be able to boot up normally with the mod chip off (red led by holding power button in) then i cannot do it, it powers up (red led X3) but then the LED around the eject button just flashed green and red, and nothing on the tv... please, someone help i have been trying to do this for far too long... take a minute and respond, it would be greatly appreciated... i have unupgraded HD with v1.1 xbox....


What am i doing wrong?

Check the data or the power cables, or if a new drive was added the jumper has to be set for cable select. You do not have to change the name of the bios, leave it as X3_3029.bin and ftp it

You DO NOT need to make an ISO when flashing your bios...you just burn it with a dummy file. The easiest way to flash is by the network...definately the easiest and very reliable...but if you want to flash with cd thats fine, but you do not need to make an ISO.

hmmm

all cables connected, how do i figure out the ip of my xbox, i dont think i can boot up the standard dashboard anymore anyways... i will use FlashFXP but i cannot connect to the xbox, i need to get the ip... but i dont supect i need an alternate dashboard such as evo-x installed on the box already... bios is first i presume, anyways, if you have a method of finding the ip address i would love to hear it... i check the cables, everything is secured nice and tight...
