flashing a X3CE on a pre-modded xbox

i have a xbox 1.6 modded with x3ce, fully working.
i have to flash ANOTHER x3ce so i swapped my x3ce with the new one, booted up with the 3.0.1 from the backup (pwr-on and eject button pressed at the same time), then flashed the X3 3029 v16plus.bin (the same on my x3ce) with the bank switch ON ON OFF OFF OFF.
Flashbios works successfully (a yellow bar, then a green bar, then power off) but when a quickpress the pwr the xbox makes a on-off (not the classic fragging with red/green eject button).
soldering is ok, since my x3ce works, but no way with the OTHER x3ce.
any ideas?

Try removing the external bank select switch. ON ON OFF OFF OFF is the default bank selection when the external switch isn't connected.

@martin: i had the same idea while you were answering to me! it worked.
i successfully flashed the x3ce with the latest version, but the weird thing i discovered is that x3 bios says the current bank selected (without the external bank selector plugged-in) is "bank 1-8" = 2 mb, in contrast of what i know (it should be ON ON OFF OFF OFF).
now i re-plugged in the switch, set it to OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF (2 mb) and the x3ce boots up, but when i'm trying to flash and boot to ON ON OFF OFF OFF or OFF ON OFF OFF OFF it won't work.
any suggestion?

In which case, I'd check the following:

The switch cable itself.
The switch socket on the X3
The switch socked on the bank select switch.

Look for bent pins on the sockets and any broken wires on the cable.
I feel you'll find something along these lines.

it seemed to be a cable issue... i plugged out the switch cable, checked for bent pins, then re plugged in and *magically* it turned to work... maybe a false contact... dunno...
but now i'm running in another trouble:
all the x3ce are fully working, i have tested on my own mobo.
no one of these x3ce work on ANOTHER 1.6 MOBO, so i'm guessing it's a mobo issue, but i'm damned sure i was able to boot before...
what i know is:
when i try to run the backup flashbios the xbox starts with a quick ON-OFF with X3 logo in red, then it restart with the X3 logo half blu and purple and the flashbios screen appears, so i'm guessing the soldering is ok.
i can't boot with the original bios (pwr long-pressed). i accidentally had a EEPROM RESTORE FROM X3 before, but as far as i know the 1.6 bios is not writeable... maybe a eeprom issue?
