LITEON 74850 Flashing back to stock from really old ixtreme

I need a little help with this and hoping someone can help me out.

I have a 360 here which has some really old ixtreme firmware on, I'm guessing ixtreme 1.51 or earlier. It's not my machine so I don't have an original dummy.bin but when extracting the firmware, it warns me about "dummy.bin incomplete serial data" and if it's old firmware to try and read the firmware again, i did with the same results. having a look on the net, people were saying theirs runs fine by just flashing the new firmware on so I tried flashing the stock firmware to it but no games run.

The 360 was playing old backups (I presume) and originals before on the old firmware but now it's not playing originals on the stock firmware which I flashed to it. The 360 is currently on 13146 dash and I flashed the LiteOn_Post_13141 stock firmware to it. Drive keys were spoofed over but I've noticed that the serial information on the dummy.bin I pulled off the drive doesn't match the serial on the case of the Liteon so maybe that's my problem?

Can anyone shed any light on what I need to do to get this 360 sorted? Push comes to shove, can anyone point me in the direction of a download of the older ixtreme versions so i can flash them one at a time to find the right one to put it back to how it was and just give it him back. Obviously I'd prefer it sorted out though.

Thank you :)

I flashed it with "orig-02510C-1c000" which is the only firmware in the Phat Liteon Post 13141 folder and originals don't run, I've even let Jungle Flasher choose what firmware to install and it tries to install LT plus 1.1. The dashboard won't update so I need to get stock firmware on there.

Thank you for your reply.

It's a bit strange, sometimes it says play dvd and most times it says play game. I start the game but it immediately says that it cant read the disc....hhhmmmm could that mean the laser.

I'll post my log a little later, I'm out at the minute. I appreciate eveyones help.

Sounds like a laser issue. Log is helpful too.

If you got a game to load once, it's not the firmware.

You can actually give much more information than you have. For instance, does it sound like the drive is attempting to read or does it just spin up and say 'play DVD'?

I haven't got a game to load yet but it does say "Play game" but it doesn't run, it comes up and says it can't read the disc. I'll change the laser in a minute with a new one and see what happens or give the existing one a tweak. When I put an original disc in, it attempts to start up, starts to read something then spins up faster as if it's about to load the game but it then slows down to a constant slow spin and displays "Play Game". I press my A button, the screen dims but the disc doesn't speed up from it's slow spin and it immediately says that it can't read the disc. Since it says "Play Disc", I've attempted a dashboard update and it has took it and is now on the latest dashboard so it's looking good so far.

My JF log seems to have corrupted itself with Word Warp in notepad and is a right mess to read but I've got a backup from a temp folder of the start of it.

Jungle flasher tried to give me LT Plus 1.1 so the original firmware is a real old one. From there, i basically put the LiteOn_Post_13141 stock firmware (orig-02510C-1c000) but since it didn't read the original disc with that flash, I just presumed the warning about no serial data was giving me a problem, I didn't think about the laser. I've just successfully updated the dashboard with this firmware so hopefully it's just the laser.

I appreciate everyones help with this, thank you. i'll post back shortly with the results of the laser tweak/replacement.

So it's attempting. Therefore likely to be a bad laser.

It's looking that way Martin, I'm getting somewhere now and it's the guys original disc that is what's been confusing me. He left an original game in the drive so I've been using that to test, since it's original. I've just had to tweak the laser down real low and it still wasn't reading but I decided to try one of my originals and it worked straight away. i tried another and it worked. Just to try, I've flashed LT3.0 with a backup and it ran perfectly fine so there seems to be something wrong with the huys original disc even though it looks in pretty good condition.

I'm just about to raise the resistance on the laser pot to an acceptable level and post back with results but it seems to be runnning fine now, on the latest dashboard with stock and LT3.0 firmware so I think you guys have helped me sort this problem out, thank you. Before I get all giddy on a success, i'll tweak this laser back a bit and try a few discs out but at least we know the firmware isn't a problem now, worst case scenario will be a new laser :D

All sorted now, thank you for everyones help, it's helped me get my head around it. All down to an original disc that didn't work. It looks in nearly brand new condition, definitely no marks I'd be concerned about and he said it worked fine for him so it threw me a bit trying to figure out why originals wasn't working. I've just chucked his disc on the polisher and now that works fine so all discs are working fine.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to post to help me sort my problem out, it's people like you who make this community superb!
