so cal
ver. 1.4
x3 mod
WD 2500jb
i got chip soldered nice and tight spent good part of last 2 days reading and downloading what i thought was the flash i needed evox.bin used one of the tutorials that came with it however i made mistake of having switch to on on off off off, i am using the new pro switch. made disc with maxell dvd-r 8x and it read it nicely went through the whole thing without a glitch. the very first thing i did was save the original bios to the c:drive as instructed in the tut's my intention was to add the new hardrive after the flash. after flash finished the eject button would not work and it would blink three times after rebbot then would stay on with blank screen. now i did further reading i was able to use other settings on my switch to get my screen again. i used the off off on off off and that took me to the screen that showed the 3.0.3 bios flash that came with my chip. so i did not mess with it. then i followed other instructions to reset the switch settings that i screwed up by power and eject buttons pressed at same time well that works and the only way that works is when i do those buttons together oherwise i get the blinking 3 times and the blank screen. i also tried to load up the m$ dash and all i got was error 16. i am seriously trying and doing as much research as possible so as to figure this out on my own but i am getting a little discouraged. just when i thought i had something boom.

First I would advise you NOT to use the Evox bios. It simply does NOT have the features that the X3 Bios contains.

The Evox bios as you know is 256K, so when you flashed it to the 1MB bios it got a little pissy.

I would simply boot to the backup, then set the switch for the first 1MB bank, and flash the X3 3108 bios to it.

Happy modding!

On Xbins it's under; Bios - Xecuter - Xecuter 3

There is NO way to miss it. Follow the instructions for xbins, there's no way to fail.

Not a problem, I understand completely.

Of course it doesn't help that most of us usually come here after we try everything, then we become desperate and frantic. (I know I did)

That's why I been sticking around doing what I can.

LMAO, thanks for the support, sometimes it's not easy but we know what it's like to be on the other side of the monitor.

You can always hook any of us up by hitting the little square smiley face below our # of posts to increase our Rep though. ;-)

Well if you have the stock switch (not pro) the setting that is easiest is On On Off Off Off.

That will flash bank one. IF you are successful in flashing bank one, and you have CONFIRMED it boots / works properly I would suggest flashing bank 2 so that you have TWO working Bioses.
(Bank 2 = Off On Off Off Off on stock switch)

May I also reccommend that AFTER you have completed all your flashes, AND you have put in the HD that you will normally have in there that you put some backup Bioses on the hard drive.
(Make a folder "C:/BIOS" put in as many different Bioses as you want, and leave them with their ORIGIANL names.)

If for some reason you toast your Bioses later, the backup Bios will allow you to flash a Bios from the C:/BIOS folder, and it will give you a LIST of the .bin files to select from.

Happy Modding!
