hi there, just wondering if sum 1 can help me understand and enlighten me on what i have to do to get my toshiba samsung drive - model TS-H943 2005 - part number: X800473-016 - F/W=ms25 to not give me 1 red ring as soon as i put a game or movie in the dvd drive, i got the error of the console and did a bit of googling and this is basically my problem -

E-Code / Secondary Error code: E66 / 1002
Binary/Hex: 01000010 / 0x42 -> 66

Known fixes:

1) Reflash the firmware with the correct Vendor version string using your computer.

Description:

This error occurs when you replace the dvd-drive and forget to spoof it with the correct version string of the drive you replaced....


before all this happened the console would not update to the latest dashboard but it was able to play games and dvd's but i was adamant tht i wanted the latest dashboard so i took a different samsung drive - model TS-H943 2006 - part number: X800473-019 - F/W=ms28 out of another xbox tht i had (NOTE: the only difference between the two drives were the dates on them and the part numbers and also the firmware version) and it updated fine with this drive, so i removed the 2006 drive and put back in the original. booted up and tried putting a game in and its fine while im in the dashboard but as soon as i put anything in the dvd drive it shuts down on me giving me a red ring any ideas on how this can be resolved..... and also is there any tutorials available

your messing up your console, You couldn't update via some xbox's Wont update with custom Firmware on I.e. LT.. Plus you shouldn't...
Always go to Stock then update, its not hard and everyone should follow, But what you've done by what I can read is messed up your update, The update you needed do wouldn't work via it Erases the Firmware on your Drive and replaces it has well has a new dashboard on your console, you should have gone stock and updated which would have both updated your drive and console to latest update then flashed to LT again, But you've put another drive in which has Took the new Dvd drive update along with the console getting the update and when you put your old drive it the firmware don't match aka your getting an error Code, You will have try flashing your drive with Latest LT and hope it works or Get your Dvd key, And spoof it on the drive you've took the update on...

i still have the dvd drive tht i updated it with, would i be best just to use this instead in the console as this is the 1 i updated it with ? if not how do i go about getting the original dvd key of the drive i messed up :/ thanks for the reply

will this xbox get banned now as i used a different dvd drive in it when i updated, them swapped back to the original :/ stupid i know ....

ryt i have tried finding the botched samsung drive with firmware version ms25 and it will not show up for the life of me, i know everything on the connection end is working because i have tested a lite-on drive and another samsung drive firmware version ms28 and they both work, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :/ any1 no why the drive is not showing up, please read all posts above as this will give u an insight into what i originally did with the drive in the first place, thankyou.
