Before I get ripped apart, the reason I'm doing this is for offline play only. So none of this dont flash your drive or else you'll be flagged for a ban, please.

Would you expect a hitachi 59 that is flashed (with LT+1.1) after the latest dash update to run game backups? I did this and game backups dont work (just keeps showing open tray). I know the flash process wrote the DVD key to the drive because original games work, just game backups dont.

thanks

The Hit drives are NOT effected by the update so it as Not unflashed "stock" your xbox.. your Xbox is fine and will play copies fine, its your laser... IF the update stocked your drive it will say "play DVD" Not "open tray" so its not the firmware.. This happened to me ages ago, after flashing my xbox it said open tray, I reflashed again and again, the console plays originals But never copies, After changing the laser All my copies read fine.. So im almost 100% sure its the laser mate..

P.s. Its harder for your laser to read Copies then originals so sometimes it will stop, I fixed my problem by Doing a POT adjustment, If you need help on doing this let me know... After afew weeks I completely changed the laser for a new one.. Hit lasers are only afew pound on ebay, Paid £4 for mine..

I bought the laser but before I swapped out the laser I did a very simple test.

I took a hitachi drive from another xbox which was running originals and backups and then flashed that drive with the DVD key of the drive in question. The exact same thing happened, originals work but backups dont. So, overally i have tried 2 drives in the same xbox, both flashed with LT+1.1 and both only playing originals and not backups. That would then suggest its not the laser, since one of the drive runs game backups when inserted into another xbox.

Mate, The update couldnt have unflashed your console in the update, If your drives an Hit then there is no firmware update and your drive remains the same... Also the laser in drives can be hard find a good one, Ive brought afew off ebay "for liteon" where the Laser plays originals But never plays backups, even with a Pot adjustment and the console flashed 100%.. Look, the best way to solve your problem is to rule out possibilities and work forwards, So update, Deffo not it has its impossible to effect a Hit drive... Bad media dvd dl discs? Well alot of people always have this problem when they backup a game is to use cheap DVD dl disks, Theres alot of DL disks and most not made for the data of an xbox game, so try different Disks... Also if you have spoofed another drive that played backups with that laser, are you testing an AP25 game? because Spoofed drives dont play AP25 games.. IF i was you and I 100% knew the drive you spoofed plays Backups, I would take the laser from that drive and Put it in my original drive, Its very easy.. This should work..

Like i said before, Benq, Shammy and Liteons with LT on after update, when they try test a backup game they get "Play DVD" error, If your laser is damaged or Even the drive itself damaged it will say "Open tray".. Try listening to your Drive, Does the disk spin? im asking because maybe your motor might have broke in the drive and explains why it says "Open Tray" because its not spinning your disk.. If your original Drive Saying "Open Tray" Not "Play DVD" then its something more then a bad flash or the update effecting your drive, Open tray means "No Disk is fount inside the drive" so either your Laser isnt picking up the disk or The drive isnt spinning the disk but something is telling your Xbox there is no disk.

Hang in there friend, the solution to your problem isnt hard and im sure working together we could fix this for you and get you running backups again, you just have keep at it..

i'm not saying it does

errr,,,the xbox is at the latest dash.

Bad media dvd dl discs? Well alot of people always have this problem when they backup a game is to use cheap DVD dl disks
using verbatim

Here is a summary

Xbox A Latest Dash
Hitachi 47 LT+ 1.1 - Plays originals and not backups

Xbox B (not latest dash)
Hitachi 59 LT+1.1 Plays originals and backups

If I flash the hitachi 59 drive with the DVD key from hitachi 47 and insert into Xbox A, i get the same. Plays originals and not backups. I havent tried the opposite though in fairness.

Im having sort of the same issue with a hitachi 47 lt+1.1 but in my case after new dash update it still loads all of my older backup but it wont load newer games like L.A. Noire, Portal 2, Marvel V.S. capcom, etc. Im wondering if some how the new dashboard itself has a way to tell this newer games apart from older games. Also Im burning games with same media wich is Verbatins and same process as the past with imageburn with the set layer brake. Any help would by greatly apreciated.

I am confused now. I have a Hitachi 78 and after the latest dashboard update I get the "Cannot read Disk Try cleaning etc.." message whereas before I could play any backup. Are you saying that the latest dashboard has not flashed my drive back to stock firmware and it is a laser issue? Wouldn't that be a huge coincidence though?

I'm going to attempt to flash mine too. Just waiting for some equipment to arrive.
