My brother in-law bought an xbox 360 on Craig’s list. He got it home and it played his originals just fine. He decided to flash his drive so he can save the condition of his originals. He thought it was stock and tried to flash his drive using the Ll083info button in the dvdkey 32 tab as per the instructions in the JF Tut for stock liteon drives. He could not get the key dumped so he brought the drive to me.

My system specs are
· Windows 7 x64
· JF 1.89
· USBx360
· CK3i w/ probe v3
· Dash 2.0.13604.0
· LiteOn DG-16D2S
· FW/ Rev 0251

After i launched JF the first thing that i noticed was different was the drive did not detect right away. I had to hit the eject button three times on the CK3i to get the drive to open and close then click refresh in JF to get the drive properties to appear. I clicked phatkey then yes at prompt, held the probe button down, placed probe on the MPX01 and released the button. The dots continue to proceed and no key extracted prompt. Instead I get a drive intro failed in the log and a prompt saying PhatKey Failed! I also noticed in the log the status of the drive after sending the vendor intro was 0x90 instead of the 0x51. I don’t know what that means but it’s different than other logs I have seen. After a few failed attempts I hooked the drive back up to the xbox to see if it would still read originals. Nope, when you try to open the tray the screen goes black and the center power light blinks quickly. SO WTF! is wrong here and how do i fix it. I have spent a few hours searching and reading post and I can’t come up with any similar. Any suggestions or links to other post would be very much appreciated.

@Martin C The mod guy in my area said the RGH only works 25% and bricks the systems the other 75%. Is this true or does he not know what he is doing?

My board was not a xenon it was a zephyer. I recovered the key for the drive using the RGH. I cant find in any form what to do next. Anyone have a clue?

I dont have a spare lite on right now. All i have is a benq. I know i can spoof the benq but that eleminates the box from being able to go online at all. I have another box to play my backups on now. My goal now is to return the box to stock FW so i can sell it. I think the drive is good. If i could just erase it and install a clean stock FW using the key i think it would work. I cant seem to change the key in JF it wont let me type anything. I cant find anything on how to flash a drive without being able to dump the current FW first.

ok. First of all, lite-on's on a zephyr? By rule i don't really pay much attention to the motherboard when i'm flashing, but didn't they show up with falcons only?

2nd of all, isn't 0x90 an erase status that is sent to the drive when you do lite-on erase, and then you have to power-cycle?

I have a xenon mb that was sent to M$ for rrod repair and has a lite-on 74850 in it now not sure what original was

I got another liteon board today and installed it. I opened JF and loaded my target FW. Clicked manual spoof and entered in the key. Clicked MTK flash 32 Tab then clicked liteon erase. The drive returned Status 0x90 again and then said device intro failed. After searching forums for a few I came up blank and decided to try to write the target FW anyway. It failed as well saying Getting status from port 0x0000 Invalid Status 0x90. I don’t understand what the heck I’m doing wrong. Any advice would be appreciated
