Ok had something weird here.

Installed the chip, all works fine, flashed bios 1959 all works ok. Rebooted all working fine, went into some setup menu, still working, looked at the settings, only ones I changed was Disable X3 Live thingy and then enable DHCP.

Went back to the main menu where you have all the setup options.

Popped in a copy of Halo2 to see if it booted, the box just stalled while displaying the screen, so I rebooted and now I get the orange/red flashing.

Tried removing the chip and still get the same orange/red flashing, redid all my solders, I know they are good I have experience.

The box acts like its powering on and then stops. I have to reboot it and then get the flashing red/orange LED. This happens with the chip connected or not.

Did trying to run that Halo2 copy break my Xbox or the chip?

PS, when I press power and eject button to go to the backup bios, led flashes green then stops to orange.

This is a 1.4 Pal Xbox btw.

Well I removed the chip and get the same error so I guess my mobo is trashed... I must say that even with a blank screen the gfx chip heatsink almost burned my finger when I touched it, I can't believe it can run that hot. Something must have gone very wrong here.

Any ideas people? help me please :)

I managed to get the console exchanged at the shop I got it from lol...

I just want to make sure that the X3 itself is not the cause of the failure of the previous Xbox.

Thanks!

There was no error code, all worked fine till I tried to boot that game and the console locked. Then any type of reboot would give that fragging and no video so for sure I had no error code to look up...
Now only point I am not sure of is that I read on this forum that for the backup bios to boot you need to tap the buttons and not press them, if you press them you will get purple led but no video, am I right?

So do you assume that the X3 chips works? I'm not gonna hose another Xbox? That's something I would like to know :)

Ok Installed the chip in the new box, booted the backup bios and flashed, it works just as it did the first time before the crash. Have to build the box back together now.

Thanks for the help.
