Have you switched your banks to bank 2?

ive never used a disk to flash a bios, i always ftp, but the x2 always flashs to bank 1 first, so if you built your bios with flashbios on bank 1 and x2 bios on bank 2, then you will need to move the switch to bank 2 setting.

if you are getting an error with the chip disabled does it give you an error code?

Yes thats an error code and somehow you have managed to unlock your hdd and not lock it again. For your xbox to boot in retail mode the hdd needs to be locked.

I would download Slayers from the usual places, insert that and lock the hdd.

If it doesnt boot, then the chip hasnt been flashed properly, if you cant get flashbios to boot then it may not be on the chip anymore in which case you will need to purchase the programmer, or if you know someone that also has an X2 they may have installed flashbios onto the chip and you could do a hot swap and flash your chip in there xbox.

Ive found a thread:

(Quote from xthewhiteparadex)

if you cannot boot from any disk, use xboxhd and follow the instructions to reformat your whole harddrive with a fresh copy of ms dash and then after that you can reinstall your hacked dash for the chip. Thats what ive done and it works everytime. You can propably get this file from teh same place as slayers

I have the exact same problem. It boots to the flashbios 3.0.1 or 3.0.3 (depending on which bank i select) and i proceed to 'flash' it from disk and it does it's thing (which looks to be correct) and turns off (as it should)

I also can't boot with the chip off (but that's okay, dont need to get to msdash) cuz i installed a new HD and was relying on the slayer auto installer to do the formatting and installing of dash & apps 4 me.

now i've tried to flash it a few times, but it just keeps going back to the flashbios screen on bootup and it wont' boot from the slayer dvd that i burnt.

what have i done wrong? obvisouly the same as the OP?

argh!

Update:

I figured it out myself. I'm such a n00b.
I was flashing the bios with the flashbios bios, instead of the x2 bios.

so that's why it kept booting into flash bios.

me officially = n00b.

hope that helps anyone else out there.
