Hello,

It's been a while since I modded an Xbox 360, but today a flashed a LiteOn 9504 drive (it was still flashed with the 9504 firmware when I looked at it in JungleFlasher). This console is not used on XBL, and being banned is okay.

I have flashed the drive to LT+ v3.0. Will this be okay, even though the console is on an older dash, or will I need to update the dash to the latest version? If I update the dash, will the firmware be restored (from LT+ V3.0) to stock?

Thanks!

if you wont to play new games will need to update dash, and if your dash version is below 2.0 13599 it will flash back to stock mate

The best thing to always do is flash the drive back to stock and then update to the latest dash and then flash with the latest LT+. This stop any errors occuring during the update.

It makes it easier being on the latest firmware that way abgx and the tutorials all match the setup you have

I see. Thanks guys! But if I update my drive will get locked, right? So even if I have the OFW I will need to either use something like the Sputnik or the unlock PCB, eh?

Correct.

The update will change it's OSIG to 0272, you will need to unlock the PCB for future firmware updates.
Thanks BL4K3Y. But with LT+ 3.0 on the drive, isn't the OSIG already 0272? Won't the console think the drive already has the latest firmware and only lock it?

You need to revert your drive to stock firmware before you update the dashboard.

The drive will become locked as soon as you update and it's OSIG will be changed to 0272.

Xbox Slim 9504 is only case when the drive is reflashed (to stock 0272) by the 13599+ updates, no matter what is its previous state (9504, 0272, stock or not).
That means drive MUST be unlocked (or update will fail), and it WILL become locked. You cant escape this.

On phat xboxes, although not advised, you can still flash straight to 3.0 and it wont get removed by the update. But again on old 9504 drives it will never work. The Slim update wants at any cost an unlocked drive, then it goes to stock 0272, then drive is locked and then you can proceed to 3.0.

On the bright side, +50% of 9504 drives are MXIC, so cross your fingers and have a look on the chipset :)
