Flashing TS-H943

I've already bricked one drive, so I don't want to do it again.
This time I got a TS-H943 like the one that orginally came with my 360.
I have my drive key.
Can some please outline for me, please, the best way to flash it with the latest FW?
All the tutorials on this site seem to be out of date, so if someone can tell me how to do it, or point me in the right direction, it'll be greatly appreciated!!

Yeah, but that doesn't really tell me what to do if I'm replacing the drive.

Do I flash the new drive with my ORIG.BIN first? Then with the new FW?

You can create hacked firmware using your ORIG.BIN from your other drive and flash that directly. There really isnt a need to flash your orig.bin first and then upgrade to the new firmware.

If your unsure how to create your hacked firmware with your orig.bin follow this:

Download the latest firmware, iXtreme 1.2c. Unpack/unzip the file and navigate to the folder called "Fast" (thats the most reliable in my opinion).

Copy (save your original, so dont cut) and paste your orig.bin into this folder. Then run the command script in that folder called "Make ixtreme firmware"

This will then create a file called ix12.bin, this is your hacked firmware which will contain your key. Your key will also be backed up into a text file in that directory. You can then flash your drive with this newly created hacked firmware. :)

Ah, forget that last post. I just read your previous post & realise you had a Hitachi previously so you have to use a different method I think.

Please disregard my last post, maybe someone else will tell you the correct method. Probably using Toolbox 4.0?? :?

Actually I orginally had a TS-943, then got an Hitachi as a replacement because it was cheaper, and that bricked, so now I'm back to one of these.

Edit: I did what you said, and when I try to load the ix12.bin into iPrep I get "No Valid Firmware Loaded".

Ah OK, so the orig.bin you have is from the older Samsung you used to have yes? In which case, yeah, you should be able to do what I said to begin with, only as cofree says make sure you replace the ixDef.xml file with the new one.

Assuming you have the orig.bin from your Samsung, then you should be able to follow the above to create your hacked firmware then follow the process below, it it's a dump from the Hitachi then dont, but let us know as there is a different procedure:

If you do it this way without going through the process of iDump first etc, I don't think you use the iFlash command to flash.

Using the NTFS4DOS CD method, you still use iPrep to prepare & create the folder on your hard drive. Haven't used USB drive before so not 100% sure about that.

But you then place the hacked firmware you created in the , previous step in the root of the IPREP folder on your hard drive that was created.

Then you can follow the tutorial for the NTFS4DOS CD method to get to the command prompt, mount hard drive & navigate to IPREP folder (check tutorial if unsure about this) then just type:

Code:
mtkflash w /m /sata ix12.bin
and hit enter. Your drive should then show up in the list as XTREME Pri Master, then follow the flashing procedure as normal for whichever drive you have, MS-25 or MS-28? you have not mentioined which version you have.

Maybe someone will confirm, but I'm pretty sure this is how you would do it in your case. Otherwise you would have to restore the drive first with the orig.bin you have, then flash which will just take you longer. I guess it doesn't matter that much at the end of the day though, up to you.

Also, a general note about the v1.2c iXtreme release. Samtool v0.5 was included rather than v0.7i. If you have any samtool related issues, download the most current from our downloads sections.

If you are using iPrep, you shouldn't need to worry about updating samtool.
