flashing with evox m8 bios

if i flash my xecuter 2.6 CE with evox 516

will it fill just bank 1 or is their a chance it will overun?

also my hard drive is melted. as im buying 2 more unlocked ones off ebay is it possible to put an unlocked hard drive in my xbox ands boot off chip to evoz dash then grab my eeprom from my motherboard and use it with xboxhdm to reformat my new hard drives?

First, a recommendation... flash the X2CL 5035 BIOS, and do it via HTTP. This is the current stable release of the X2 BIOS. I thought the EvoX BIOSes (at least the more recent ones) were named m7, m8, etc.? 516 sounds like a version of the EvoX dashboard.

If you flash with a 512KB file and FlashBIOS it will only overwrite bank 1. If you flash with a 1MB file it will overwrite bank 1 and 2.

If you get your mod working you can access an unlocked HDD. The MS BIOS won't boot until the HDD is locked to the box (which can be done a few different ways) but a mod BIOS doesn't care. No need to muck around with xboxhdm.

is it possible to create one of thes eif i get my eeprom. And can someone answer the question why cnt someone elses locked hardd rive boot in my xbox?

When hard drives are locked they are married to the eeprom of the board they were in when they were locked

If you lock a hdd on an XBox and then try to use that drive in another XBox that XBox will be unable to unloack it because it does not know the ket that was used to lock the Hard Drive

That is whay if you lock a Hard Dirve it is always recommended that you backup your eeprom from the machine that locked the drive or copy the HDD lock key down in case you ever have to recover the data when a Mother Board goes bad

Now if you do not have they key there is one option you can try a sticky is on the forums of a utility that costs $50.00 that may be able to unlock the drive

please explain if not because i recently tried softmodding and now my hard drive is fried and so need to purchase a new one. and need to know what to do once i have bought someone elses pre used unlocked ahrd drive

1. You want to use the original M$ dash

the drive im buying is preused so i am just going to reformat it somehow :S

soobviously if its been in an xbox console lfor legirtimate resons its capeable of bring locked. so i am probably going to have to find a way of overwriting the whole hard drive any ideas apart from xboxhdm? on how to reformat a hard drive? back to its retail mode that iits shipped in

As long as the drive is not locked when you get it you can format it with the utility in the X3 Bios if you have an X3 chip or some dashboards you can boot them from CD and Prep a hard drive that way as well

i only have an xecuter 2.6 CE is it still possible to prepare a hard drive or reformat one back to retail shipment stage using just a 2.6 CE ?

littlemiss is their a way to completely wipe a modded hard drive and return it back to its retail ms-dash state?

Download a copy of Slayer's. It will format and rebuild the drive for you.

what bios should i use thats compatable with my xecuter and how would i go about booting slayers?

is it best to download slayers from the usual places?

i cnt seem to be abl;e 2 register to slayer's forum his link is broken i just get an error coz to access his irc channel u need to be a forum member but i cnt get the register link to work :'(
