I flashed the bios, but when i booted it back up, i could hear everything (the sounds of start up, and when put in, i could hear games), but there is no video. I did not install the chip myself, so when i took apart the xbox and looked at 13 and 14 i had no idea how to fix them or resolder them (if those are the ones). I don't even know if this is the same thing because i have sound. Please answer quickly, i'm very upset and confused about this whole thing.

that's quite odd...that is the same problem i'm in right now. Although I initially had an Evo-X bios on the chip first....just what my buddy had at his place when I did the install. Only problem is...it's an old bios and doesn't support more than a 137 gigs of harddrive space. So I've tried to reflash with 1959 bios and am having problems. I think I'll try some of the newest bios tomorrow and see if that changes anything...

btw... info

Version 1.2 or 1.3 box X3 chip (not the CE) from bmmods 160 gig Hitachi drive

Ok, this is basically one of TWO faults:

You have the wrong BIOS loaded - 2914.bin for 1.0-1.5 OR 2914_1.6PLUS.bin for 1.6&1.6b
Pins 13 and 14 need re-touching/soldering.

My first box I modded a couple weeks ago was a 1.6 box. This one was a 1.2 or 1.3...and the problem indeed was the wrong format of the 1959 bios. FTP'd them over and had absolutely no problems what so ever.

Thanks for the info.

same problem here

I have the same problem here .. but its not my 13 14 pins or the wrong bios.. it works fine with the previous version of the bios... just not the new 2914 or 2913.... although i did have it working at one point with 2914 until i turned off the default boot screen... now i cant get it to work at all but i get sound and no video... im running a X3 with the x3cp and a 1.4 mobo. i have 1959 running fine on the box...

Just to let you know i did have the 13 and 14 pin problem when i first installed the chip... but i got that straitened out and got 1959 running fine for the last 2 months... now with the new bios .. no joy!

I have to join this group I have the same problem. Had 1959 and 2913 working fine until I flashed 2913 bank with 2914 and it (2914) boots with sound and no video. Re flashed that bank back to 2913 and that too only has sound. I tried 2913 and 2914 on both banks and neither have video. Both banks work fine with 1959. I must be missing something here..I'm stumpt

I also have ran into this problem with the 1959 in the past, and the 2314 more recently. Although I just fixed it by reflashing. It turned out the problem was just a bad flash in both cases... So I would try that before resodering everthing..

I don't think resoldering is going to do much if you have been running 1959 without a problem. I have reflashed over and over on either bank and can only get video on 1959.

I've also ran into that problem. I did flash the chip originally with the X3 3029 bios on a xbox v1.1 and the box did boot just fine into config live. I was looking at some of the video settings and I believe the only one I enabled was the widescreen which the tv I have supports just fine and boom, I couldn't do anything after reboot. The xbox would boot up with no video, but the audio was just fine. Until coming across this point several hours after d**king around with the xbox I tried flashing it using the 1959 flash which gave me video back. Anyone else have any ideas on a solution on this problem?

THanks,

Looks like we're all sharing a boat. I get sound and video on X3 1959 (but I'm locked out because it's asking me for a password I didn't set) as well as X2 4973, but I only get sound with X3 3029.

I'm stumped. If it's a bad install (solderless), then why would it seem to work on older BIOS's?

how are you hooked up? if using an HD pack, try disabling progressive 480p/1080i. Or better yet, use the standard RCA connector to make sure everything is working ok. Try the HD pack on different settings after that, tweak to taste.

similar problem

When I boot to the modchip everything shows up untill after the xbox logo screen. Then the TV gets no video input. The xbox is also booting directly to the dashboard (unleashx), insted of x3 config live like it was right after I installed it. I can hear the audio and even do things in the dashboard, I just can't see anything. I flashed every bank with evox to try and clear everything out and everything worked fine, but when I put X3 (build 3029) back on it does the blank screen thing again. This is my friends xbox, so I'm not sure if mabey he jacked up some settings in config live, and if he did I don't know how to reset the bios settings. Now I've got x3 build 3029 on banks 1-4 and the evox bios on banks 5-8. Its working fine with the evox bank but when the dip switch is set to the x3 bank theres no video. It seems like it would have to be the x3 bios settings, but how do I fix it?

Same problem, 1959 BIOS works but any versions above - nothing. Checked with 2 different Video/Audio cables/connection - one with RCA connectors other with S-Video, both nothing. Tried to connect to multi-system TV set (woks with NTSC and PAL) - nothing again.
