flashing X3 with a black screen.

I got a xbox v1.6b that I have just put in the x3. I do not get anything on the screen when "booting" into the chip (blue X3 logo). I have the same symtomes when "booting" into backup eexprom (purpel X3 logo). When I "boot" into normal mode (chip diable, red X3 logo) the xbox starts fine. I have checked all connections and slodring points with a multimeter from the pinheader to the next point after the soldring point to check that there are a good connection and ther are shorts between any of the soldring points. I have the extra 5v connction and both blue led's are on.

My guess is that the chip is either faulty or that it got the wrong bios version (I order it with the 1.6b fix so it should have the right bios version, but just to be shore is there a way to flash the bios in the "blind" with no display or is there a way to enabel the X3 display ??

some companies flash the "fixed" bios onto a differnet bank from 1234... you could e-mail where you got it from and see if this is the case... and if not why it isn't flashed.

But without FlashBios your stuck... you could use another modded non 1.6b xbox to flash the latest X3 bios... Then put it back into yours.

Cannot quite understand if yours is in a flashable state.
Hower if it is try this don't ask why !!!

I reccomend you set on on on off off and flash with X2 5032 - 512k bios which uses a different pin for video.

If it's not that recheck your LPC board as there is a small solder point one which is a real ****er and cannot see it in some of the diagrams !

Do you know anyone else with a 1.6B that you could flash it in ? Then at least you'd know if its the chip or not ?

He's talking about pins 13 and 14 on the LPC. Double check them. There's a sticky entitled "Blank Screen after Flashing X3 BIOS? Check Pins 13 and 14"...

If you're trying to get into Flashbios, make sure you're using the stock cables that came with your box. The component cables will give you a blank screen
