Hi,

My friend is going to send me his xbox 360 slim console to be flashed.

I don't know what drive he has without opening it first but is it possible to flash any xbox slim drive or is it only certain ones?

And also do you definitely need the replacement pcb for slim consoles?

Thanks

All drives are hackable. If he has a "notch" in the "U" of the drive it is a Hitachi. You only need the PCB if you have the newest Liteon or the Hitachi. If it is a Hitachi you will also need a Liteon chassis. If you have the older Liteon you will either need to do the sputnik or kamakazie hack.

My personal slim is a 0225 and I had to buy a replacement pcb for it, does that mean I never had to buy the pcb? Or was that just so I didn't have to solder etc?

You didn't "need" the PCB, but the hacks mentioned are not for beginners. The PCB made it so you did not have to use either hack to unlock the PCB.

Ok so chances are aslong as he doesn't have the Hitachi that needs a Liteon chasis drive then if I just buy the replacement pcb I can straight dump and flash using a CK3pro and probe with x360usbpro.

My best suggestion is to wait until you open it up and find out exactly what model dvd drive it has. Cause flashing it can vary from super easy to really hard. The only model that has given me the most trouble so far is the new Liteon 1175 which involves installing (RGH) in order to obtain the dvd key from NAND. Most of the time you dont need a new PCB board if it is a late model.

Ahh I see so if I can get him to open the xbox up and tell me what firmware it is this is how it would work:

Liteon 9504/0272/0225/0401/1071 : Needs replacement pcb and can be dumped flashed easily.
Liteon 1175/1532 : Needs replacement pcb and also soldering rgh to get key.
Hitachi 0500/0502 : Needs replacement pcb and whole new liteon drive.

Does that sound right?

you can use the replacement pcb but its not required and no its not an easy cuz you have to know which chip u have MXIC (03) = Sputnik probe/switch and need some soldering / Kamikaze (05) = Drilling so u have to be careful

Liteon 1175/1532 : Needs replacement pcb and also soldering rgh to get key.
yup u will need a rgh method to get the dvd/cpu key i think u need to read this >> LTU TUTORIAL << before u ask about it !

Thanks for all the answers.

I take it the only difference between the v1 and v1.1 replacement boards are that v1.1 has an external way to unlock the drive without opening it fully?

I hope you also realise that it's not the same replacement PCB that would be used for the older 16D4S liteons versus the newer 16D5S liteons and hitachis.
Different PCBs.

Yeah I seen that, if he has the ones that involve soldering im not doing it anyway.

From the v1 and v1.1 on the 16D4S that is the only difference yeah.

For all replacement PCBs you have the option of soldering or not.
I'd much prefer it was soldered personally.
I'll add here that anyone offering a service to someone else should be soldering the PCB in place.
