Yes, I know I am a MORON, NEWBIE, IDIOT, ASS, whatever. The last chip that I installed was an xenium, and you hooked up the original HD as a master and the new HD as the slave, and it transferred the partitions for you. Well, I hooked it up the same way with the Xecuter and (you guessed it) it erased both drives. My question is, can I use the C: and E: partitions from another 1.6? And if not, can anyone recommend a free (or cheap) data recovery program that would let me get the info off? I tried loading the c: and e: from my 1.4, but no luck. The only thing that it seems to have effected is that the xbox will no longer boot to the stock dash. So no xbox live. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey,
Slayer has the MS dash files on it.
Or you can get the original dashboard files from xbins.

So I take it that the dash isn't tied together with the motherboard or the hardware then, and any 1.6 dash will work?

Hey,
The dashboard is an xbox program. It will work on any xbox regardless of motherboard, hardware, chip or version.
