I bought Forza and copied it to my hard drive as I have to do with all my games (I have the Thompson drive and have lots of problems trying to play anything from the disc). After copying Forza and trying to play it from the hard drive, I got the first couple of text screens, but before the first animation it would freeze and give me the infamous "the disc is dirty or damaged" error. I'd never seen this before when trying to run from the hard drive.
I searched everywhere I could think of, sure that someone else had encountered this problem. The only "solutions" I found were to try changing the language in MS Dash and to make sure the "Game Region" setting was set to Auto. I tried both, and they didn't do a thing (for me).
After much frustration I tried getting the latest X3 BIOS and the newest version of dvd2xbox. It looks like the latter fixed my problem. I had a six-month-old version (6.1) and the new (6.7) version must have had a bug fix or two that took care of the problem.
I'm sure I'm not the only one using a slightly dated version of dvd2xbox, and since I couldn't find this solution, I'm posting it in the hope that someone else can benefit from my experience.
